Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

A whole pickup load of scrap metal has just gone off to the scrapyard. This was all either in my shed, store or garden!! The men in my family have at last caught the decluttering bug
Once they saw what I was doing they joined in.
Now just have to wait to see how much they have made
Old metal garden chairs
washing line poles
2 x car engines!!
4 x alloy wheels
2 x batteries
towel rail
clothes airers
chicken wire
and dozens of random pieces of metal all gone.
I don't know how many years I have waited for this day.
We are well over 100 items decluttered and still finding more this month.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

I have been horribly tired today and haven't done much at all (not feeling very well unfortunately). But I have done some shredding - does that count??!
Oh Yes, shredding always counts as it's less to file:D‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Blimey, I've caught the decluttering bug (it won't last). I just went through the piles of clutter that were in the spare bedroom and threw away loads of rubbish and paperwork and found places for the rest of the stuff so that now there is floor space and the room looks lovely! Now I just have to keep it that way. The problem is that now I am in the mood but I really have to get dinner sorted and start preparing for tomorrow as I have to leave really early, and who knows when I will next feel like this! Part of me thinks I should make the most of it and do some more but I really do need to get my other stuff done now. Oh well....0

Well you decluttering superstars have inspired me - so I have made a start clearing out all my old paperwork (it was neatly filed) old bank statements and previous house records have now hit the 'shred' pile and my daughter has just moved back in so two trips to the charity shop then followed.
I have some 'hotspots' such as a huge pile of magazines and the filing that is still to be done on the spare bed - baby steps! lolLight Bulb Moment - 11th Nov 2004 - Debt Free Day - 25th Mar 2011 :j0 -
Well done! It's a good feeling when you can finally see the floor again isn't it! I tend to make clutter on the steps - all those things I keep meaning to take upstairs but never too. That's the hotspot for me.
I see that some of you are making a count of the things you get rid of. How does that work? For instance I have been doing a clear-out today so I have set aside several things to take to the charity shop but they are still in the house as I have not gone to the CS yet. Can I count them to make myself feel good (!) or must I wait until they have actually exited the house?0 -

Count whatever however and whenever you like - there are no rules:) If you are finding the big jobs too much at the moment set yourself some tiny goals - eg 1 drawer/shelf/step a day and aim to keep it clear of clutter as you go along - eventually you will have no small jobs left and the bigger ones will no longer feel so huge:).Put you total in your signature so wherever you post you can see it to keep you motivated.
Here to some jubilant jettisoning in June!:DBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

espresso21 I do a mixture of both. I itemise smaller things as I add them to the charity shop bag, then take the bag to the shop when it's full. Bigger things like furniture I list as they leave.
But it's entirely up to you how you do yours; just no sneaky double-counting.:p;)

72. Big bag of green waste to the tip.

Thanks everyone, for your welcome and support. I don't reckon I will do much in June as I am very busy and working overtime this month. But today's burst of energy and motivation resulted in:
1. purple pashmina
2. brown pashmina
3. grey pashmina (I went through a phase of thinking pashminas were elegant; they may well be, just not on me!)
4. fantasy fiction book
5. another fiction book
6. ±10 pens and pencils
7. 2 old mobile phone boxes (goodness knows why I kept them!)
8. box and tissue paper (been keeping it for ages as you never know when you might need to wrap something!)
9. chopsticks that we never use (aboout 6 pairs)
10. sari that I used for a fancy dress night
Most of mine was rubbish so I got rid of a lot of paperwork too.0 -
Not much for me today as spent the day "at school" either working or sorting lost property, but have managed a couple of little bits
Jettison 100 in June: 70/100
69 Empty/rusty sweet tin (from leaky shed) - Recycling
70 Large piece of guttering & brackets etc - advertised as free on my front yard (hoping someone will take it for use on the allotments - fingers crossed)
