Had another great day - have started a full on spring clean, even moving furniture about and giving the rooms a proper new look! Only got 1 room done today but so much work and effort put in that its worth it anyway!

    - 1 large box of old photos given back to mum
    - 6 black bags of baby clothes returned to mum after trying to sell online, these are now going to car boot sale and will stay with her until sold.
    - 2 black bags filled with general waste
    - 1 large box filled with paper waste
    - carrier bag filled with kitchen waste
Life is what you make it.

Wow a spring clean! I wish I had a spare hour a day

I am however hoping to do some eB@y bundles and make a dent in our clothing basket. I have saved some cardboard boxes that would be great, and I'd feel so much better if I could downsize the eb@y box.

Still, finished one of the many shower gels yesterday, so

  • More to report:
Child's desk, gateleg table, and 2 cupboards to charity shop. 2 wardrobes to tip - one very wobbly, the other growing (!) from being too close to a damp wall for too long. House has been approved, and now awaiting return of deposit - I still have the keys, so a good ransom opportunity if she's slow paying up!:j
So my new total is 50/100 - yes I did count the house! After a month of everything being either in a box, or at the other house, I'm just glad we've officially finished with it! Starting on unpacking the remainder of the boxes today.....

Running out of steam for March but that's OK, I'm well chuffed with how well I've done :)

    135. old shaving plug adaptor
    136. old radiator valve
    137. paperback for works shelf
138-146 all 9 items i had on ebay have now been paid for so they are gone to the post office tomorrow
    147. Handyman came back to fix the loft-hatch & I managed to get him to leave with a great big plastic crate full of hinges, catches, handles, hooks, knobs and knockers as well as some mystery DIY bits (unidentifiable to me at least) from the garage.

"Oooh thats some good stuff in there are you sure you want to get rid of it?"
    "YES!!!!!!!" (said most forcefully)
"Ooooh I could put that lot in my shed"
"As long as it's in your shed and not mine I'll be happy"

His little face was a picture....he looked as happy as I do when someone gives me a bag of random haberdashery !

On a bum note my house looks like a tip again but been busy 'making and doing' for a couple of days and you can't make an omelette etc etc etc.....

Well today I've taken a car full of items to the tip from the flat. Bits of chipboard, DS's old cot :( (he's 8 btw :o), and some other bits of general gibble.
I've 2 items which have now been paid for from ebay so they need to be packaged and posted. One's going to be a PITA to wrap and send. Am a little bit swamped with stuff I have brought back from the flat in order to sell it but it's fine because I have sold lots of stuff from my ebay box so have enough space to add things to the box now. I have an exceptionally large cushion in the middle of my floor!
    Right, more listing, ttfn, K

Well done to you all for your decluttering. This thread keeps me motivated.

This week we have taken a damaged bedside cabinett to the tip which has been cluttering up our bedroom for nearly a year. I have sold our lawn mower for £15, this is the first item I have ever sold so now I feel more motivated to try to sell things. I have put up an advertisement for a pair of ski trouser, next to go are some shelves and an old rucksack.

On Monday I took a drill to the charity shop which OH didn't want.

I am also piling up clothes to sell to "cashforclothes" for clothes that I no longer want I am hoping to make £10-£15 on this.

I am also thinking of attending a "swishing" event where you bring clothes to swop with other people. Has anyone tried this?

Good luck to you all with your decluttering.

Day in the garden so far. Binned a load of plastic plant pots ad seed trays - should have offered them on freecycle but is bin day on Monday and I just wanted to get them out of the way! Also gone a large plastic trug basket which I bought at Chelsea Flower show 15 years ago and after years of hard work and exposure to sunlight it finally gave up last summer. Relplaced it but never put it in the bin - gone now!
