Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

Well I managed to put the decorations away, and filled the dyson up 3 times with needles from the tree. It'll be an artificial one next year! Tree has been put out for collection tomorrow, and a tip run earlier by my hubby got rid of cardboard, packaging, and all sorts of rubbish.
DD2 has grown, so her jeans & trousers are listed on a local facebook selling page,so hopefully they'll go in the next couple of days too. I've got a mountain of DS2 clothes to sort through aswell.
Little monsters are back to school tomorrow, and hubby is at home,so we're going to have a blitz. That's after a peaceful breakfast at the cafe together first though mind96 items decluttered so far in 20130 -

I'm loving that idea.........trouble is, OH wakes up hungry, so dont think he'd be happy waiting till kids at school before he could have breakfastXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:wave:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX0 -

Ha! My hubby is the same, but he has no choice. The propect of spending a leisurely hour with me, without our 4 children, must surely make up for the slight delay in feeding time!!! Well, Ihope so anyway
My theory is, it will set us up for the day so we can get things done. Either that or I'll go back to bed because I've eaten too much!!!96 items decluttered so far in 20130 -
was back at work today so not a lot done here although the bin men finally came and took a lot of rubbish:T and recycling.
I did the fridge this morning. Not got anymore time till Thursday now as we've DSs GF stopping but will try and keep on top of what I've done and add to it little by little.
Everyone seems to be going great guns!:TDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Well despite me thinking I would spend today relaxing I blitzed the house round again, thoroughly hoovered the whole house (only the stairs are carpeted but I do all the rooms with the hoover anyway once a week). Then I decided to take the decorations down, so found a storage box to house those and they are out in the shed along with the tree.
I also emptied the box in the kitchen that housed papers needing filed and stuff to go upstairsI done the meal planning spreadsheet so we're sorted there which is a relief.
Tomorrow the plan is to maybe start on the clothes. I really need to do it but keep avoiding it! (Can't think why).

I'm going to join you guys again - yes I tried and failed to declutter last year.
I'm determined to have a clutter-free house this half of the year.
So far I've done most of my paper shredding, until it overheated and cut out, so got a small pile still to go.
Began the ironing this evening, managed 1 pile, about 3 pile still to be done.
Living room/dining room got a really good clean just before Christmas, and is now cluttered with the kids new toys and some of my rubbish.
Persuaded DH to get rid of the PC and desk that was squeezed in at the back of the dining room and has now been replaced with a lovely leather look ottoman to put DS's toys in, as he's only got a small room with no room for toys.
I'm going to do a small amount each day and try not to move things from room to room, like I normally do. I'm enjoying being motivated by everyone - keep it up. :T2017 - no clutter to be seen challenge: 72/2017
Weight loss the old style way challenge - 7/14lbs :j0 -
I did some more yesterday after my trip to dump and CS (which was open) - the poor woman at the CS said they had been inundated with stuff since Christmas and the shop certainly looked well stocked. Incidentally, I use Dr Barnado's and they have a gift aid scheme - they give you a numbered card which you need to produce each time you leave goods. This records your donations, allows gift aid to be applied for and each quarter I get an email telling me how much my goods have made. Strangely, the emails says that I am able to claim this money back from them if I want.
After work I shall tackle the wardrobe - decades of clothes waiting for me to lose a huge amount of weight and decades of clothes for when I did lose a huge amount of weight along with a smaller number of clothes which now fit me!! Bottom of the wardrobe has unknown items which threaten to tumble out each time I open the doors.
Good luck to those who are working their way through piles of rubbish.0 -
*waves* Subscribing to this thread. I live in a 3 bed detached dorma bungalow (one bedroom is downstairs and is an office) which is crammed full of 'stuff'. It also needs redecorating in many rooms. I want to lose weight this year also, and as silly as it sounds both are linked, the more ordered and organised I feel generally, the more in control of my eating I feel. So 2012 is going to be the year I declutter, paint and reorganise - and lose some of my excess weight in the process
Today and tomorrow are going to involve taking down the Xmas decorations and throwing out the unused ones and repacking in an organised manner to go up the loft.2025 - Declutter to Move House

Bedroom sort of tidied - still stuff dumped on the bed to put away. Damned Amazon packaging is taking over the house.
Quick round of toast and marmite and a coffee before starting on christmas decorations.
DS has homework I've got to help him with - or at least nag him through anyway. :mad:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I have some craft stuff to freecycle in a second as well - I have an inordinate amount of craft junk! Last time I looked, there were over twenty kilos of buttons :embarasse
If they haven't already gone, you really should sell them on ebay or Etsy or Folksy. Buttons sell terribly well:D‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.
