  • Me and oh have decided to start looking for a new place to live come April time so between now and then I am on a mission to downsize our stuff and get rid of the junk. So far I have stuck 2 DVD's on amazon market and put the old DVD player on ebay. Small steps :).

Both to charity shop. Flat Tetris goes on, with more space being released as more goes into cupboards.:D

Thank you! Been at it since August. Being brave enough to get rid of too big clothing will help with the decluttering!

I still have a bag of clothes which are a size too big for me now, (and have been for about 2 years) and if I get to where I want to be weight wise, they will be 2-3 sizes too big, but I've still not been brave enough to get rid of them. I'm determined to never go back to that size, so there seems no point in keeping them, but I've said that plenty of times in the past, and the weight still goes back on!

Yesterday OH took the charity bag to CS, so that's now out of the house, and he also took all the recycling to the recycling centre, but I can't count any of that as it's already been counted.

I have just done a bit of filing, and got a small pile of paperwork for shredding/recycling, and some more used envelopes to take into work, also used up a tube of hand cream (after cutting it open to get the last of it out), and binned the tube. Things have been a bit slow on the decluttering front lately, but I'm only working for 2 hours tomorrow (as I had 3 hours of annual leave to use up), so maybe I'll get some done when I get home.

My fella does not understand my back to basics approach. He is always "why are you getting rid of all your stuff?". I don't think he realises how much stuff I have :rotfl: But we are looking to live together this year so better to do it now than struggle to do it when we are ready to move in together.

I now have permission to eBay all the stuff my brother left behind when he moved out (at a small commission)! I am debating on getting rid of my cross trainer, either that or I will have to start using it...

    Ok, I have tackled playroom.
Another 1/2 bag of random junk for the bin
    16 empty DVD boxes- recycling
6 DS games for trade in tomorrow
5 more books to go to school for book sale.
I am toying with the idea of sorting sons room now. Might leave it for tomorrow and declutter a cup of tea and some cookies instead.

    Evening everyone

I've got the lurgy and haven't decluttered anything except a cup of tea today.

The decluttering was going to grind to a temporary halt anyway cos DS coming to stay tomorrow which means emptying his bedroom of all my mess and sewing stuff

Obviously that's more than fine but no point trying to tidy now, I'll start again in a couple of weeks.

Well done to eveyone who's still decluttering, keep up the good work :T

    Hi everyone,

I've slowly been decluttering the house, and things are fairly organised now.

I've finally managed to part with my university notebooks, only 2 years after graduation haha!

The main thing I need to declutter now is my craft stuff. I don't do much crafting now, and I've got boxes full of stuff. Any tips for getting rid of it? Has anyone had any joy selling craft stuff on eBay?

  • I have been reading this thread for a while, but honestly didn't know where to begin! I have this weekend, filled a bin bag with bits out of the art cupboard (double kitchen until wall unit in the utility room) and made a space for the food processor. That means the work surface now has a space. The George Forman has gone on the top shelf, more work space!

I've also filled a tesco carrier bag full of macdonald type, party bag toys from the children's playroom! I found about 24 bouncy balls! I have another bin bag of jigsaw puzzles and children's board games.

    Very pleased with first attempt!
Not in debt and it WILL remain that way!
  • The old PC has gone at last - set it up for BIL and am now mithering him to go on a course to learn how to use it! Also two more things paid for on ebay so they are packaged up and ready to go.

Have also bitten the bullet in relation to a large collection of odd socks I have been collecting on the end of the radiator. Their mates are never going to re-appear, I admit defeat, so they are in a bag to go to the material recycling point tomorrow. I wonder if there's anything else I can sneak in that bag....

There's an iron in the back of the cupboard, hasn't been used in two years as I just don't get on with it. That's going as well.
