Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

  • Here's my declutter list for this month so far:

Sad to say one of my 4 month old guinea pigs died last night :( (despite seeing the expensive emergency vet that morning). It was horrible but I was determined to cuddle and comfort her to the end (which was an inconvenient 2.20am!:o)

That inspired me to clean out the cat and pig's cupboard :A - which is WAY bigger than my treat and snacks cupboard and maybe the balance needs to be redressed ... :D. So I have been able to clear out a few more bits, having come to a bit of a stall - despite having LOTS to still declutter.

    1-2. 2 eBay sales posted
    3-8. pictures put up
    9-12. tie backs put up
13-24. 11 items posted from eBay sale
    25. OOD wormer – chuck
    26-28. 3 old tin covers – chuck

Might tackle the paperwork tonight (which I have had in the lounge waiting to be sorted!). There will be a lot there can be binned now.

I need to join this again. I moved house in August and put loads of bags and boxes to Ebay in the attic and the bottom of my wardrobe. If i move again this August which i'm planning i want that stuff gone.

Also i've moved into a much smaller house and there's not much space. I have to declutter pretty much everywhere to fit more stuff in for my business. I did a massive declutter before i moved as well so it shouldn't be as bad as it is. :o

Can i join the Ditch 100 in feb 21/100 please.

Over the last few days i've decluttered

1-10 A big bag of jiffy bags i freecycled (probably a lot more than 10 but i don't want to give myself too much of a head start)
11-19 8 packs of beads sold & posted
    20 a ring sold & posted
    21 junk mail
  • Random bag of stuff that wouldn't sell on ebay/that I found in a five minute fit of tidying, to the charity shop today. I'm starting to sneak stuff out of the house now otherwise OH will say "oh I'll use that" or "I'll sort that box out" (he won't, and he never does).

I just found this thread. It's nice to know I'm not alone in fighting back against the forces of clutter. 2012 is my year to get clear. I've made £150 on eBay already in December/January (although I spent £50 on stuff for organizing paperwork, because I am really terrible with paperwork at home) and a further 27 items listed yesterday and today - mostly clothes and shoes - with the money I've wasted on clothes, I could have bought a decent sewing machine and fabric and actually had stuff that fitted :o.

My living room is okay, just had that redecorated after a flood in 2010, and the hall is fine. The two bedrooms are simply tips, though, and one (both?) needs redecorating especially since I just found black mould halfway up the wall behind the chests of drawers.

My kitchen is a bloody bomb site since the new council rules on recycling (grr stupid reusable bag taking up space, the plastic ones you could chuck in the recycling bin was fine) and is still waiting for splashbacks nearly six years (!!) after us moving in!

I have a job with long hours and spend most of it either up to my wrists in blood, up to my elbows in hot water and industrial chemicals, or doing (mutter mutter) paperwork! So it's the last thing I want to come home to, but I need to get this place in state I can maintain without looking round feeling like I could cry. Does anyone else have problems hoarding old photos and such? I am a sentimental so-and-so really (but don't let my staff know the Dragon Lady is a big softie lol)...

  • I had a plastic crate binge round QD today. Badminton has been cancelled this evening so i'm going to try and move the contents of my small chest of draws into these crates ( and then into my wardrobe ) then I can dismantle and at a later date set fire to it. I do like a good fire. And space. Lots of space. Hopefully declutter a few bits and bobs as well.

3 books in today, 2 books in the out pile
AND a 100% wool army surplus jumper purchased for £10! Take that cheap c****y clothes. I'll be wearing it for years!

Did go and see a friend today: she let me in then dragged me to look at a pile of clothing/shoes/bags etc. on her living room floor. She said "that's your fault, you and your b****y de-cluttering bug, i've been bitten!".

Haha :) (Now she wants a hand e-baying it - damn karma lol)

I'm taking the evening off from decluttering, was a long day at work! I've got another big pile of stuff for eBay that I'm selling for my brother but will get to that another day. I'll include those in the decluttering as they are in my house lol.
