Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!! Just typed out a post and lost the lot!
Let's try again...
Sorted out 2 cupboards today and changed their purpose. So the linen/towels etc are now in the hall cupboard, along with household stores etc and the stuff I don't use so often is in the living room.
In the process I got rid of loooooooooooads of stuff. Where does it all come from?! I think it breeds...
Anyhoo, my list to date is:
1-3 Catalogues (recycling)
4 Magazine (recycling)
5-15 Folders of stuff - paper, holiday brochures etc (recycling)
16-21 Ring binders (CS)
22-31 Various items of clothing (bin/CS)
32-41 Sheets & duvet covers (CS)
42-50 Jiffibags (bin)
51-53 Cardboard boxes (recycling)
54 Scaffy Rucksack (bin)
55 Backpack - no longer waterproof (bin)
56 Scart cable (bin)
57 Hamster cage bits for long gone cage (bin)
58-63 Pillows (converted into cushions)
64 Calendar from a year refuse to disclose...
Sorting is making the house a bit of a bombsite at the mo - but it will get cleared.
And it's amazing how much better I feel already. Does anyone else feel 'lighter' for getting rid of the excess weight of 'stuff'?
Ditch 100 in February - total 64/100A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!

My husband and i did nothing but row yesterday.... it all started when i emptied his tool box of screws. Apparently having them in the house saves him from going down the shed. The day went downhill from then on.
I despair i really do.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Awww Judi, you sound like me having rows with DH. They just don't get it do they.
Just decluttered one of DS's old potties and toilet training seats and got £4 for them. Also got rid of 2 big cardboard boxes into recycling so slow but steady progress - should be a lot more to come this month!!

I'm really tired today, I couldn't sleep at all last night
. I've got to do a day shift tomorrow (7.45-20.15) and my stomach is in knots. I'm being put on a different part of our unit too and I'm not that sure where everything is so it's going to be like a completely different job. I'm worried I won't know anything about discharges, I won't know where anything is, I'll be too slow, I won't be able to get on and help the NA's out doing their bits and pieces and I won't manage to get my stuff done. I don't think it helps to know that last time I looked, we were still short of 1 member of staff which means there's only 2 of us not 3 and I don't think I will be able to cope. If I was in my usual area I could cope with the switch to a day shift a bit easier but I'm not *insert green face smiley here*.
Anyway, vent over, I've posted off my last eb*y parcel this morning so that's another 2 items out. It brings me to February total 46/100

Gosh Judi you are brave touching DH's toolbox. My ex-DH used to keep all his screws and nails in a huge coffee tin so whenever he wanted one he'd spend ages rooting through it for the right one and I'd be going quietly potty in the background! :rotfl: So I tidied it up for him, bought a little set of drawers so all the different sizes had their own place - he was NOT happy :rotfl: I gave up after that. I have my own toolbox now and my own little set of drawers all neatly labelled, and it gives me a warm glow when i use it :T
Seriously, keep trying, it'll be worth it in the end

Just found this years thread - hello everybody!:j I still have loads to declutter, collecting more books from round the house for a dealer to come and have a look in a couple of weeks, even if he only takes some at least we know where we are. (this will mean decluttering the dining room table so they can be put out! :rotfl:)
Still haven't put the Christmas decorations away properly!
Hope the day shift been ok Kaz..
My parents doing loads of decluttering as they're hoping to move house in a few months, so there will be some stuff in their house to come to me, but it's not too drastic. (I don't think!)
