  • Managed to clear one shelf of the airing cupboard and have taken out 4 old blankets, an old quilt and a duvet with fleecy lining that OH won;t have on the bed. Offer on freegle or give to animal shelter for dog bedding.
Been trying to do this all week but my toddler is allergic to neat piles of sorting and fiddles with it. Takes forever to do anything with him around, completed the job in 10 mins when OH looking after him.
Also washed some cuddly toys and unwanted clothes before putting them in the CS bag.
Next job is to clear out the contents of one of the cutlery drawers before putting things back in the drawer. This job forced on me as had to take everything apart due to drawer not shutting. Cramming everything in meant a knife had got itself spectacularly wedged, boring a hole in the cutlery holder in the process!

Well today I havnt really done alot, been lazy!

have sold 2 books on ebay though,
    2 dvds on Facebook
traded in 2 books and a game on amazon so going to be naughty and count these and one of the ebay sales that has already paid. Will count the rest when they've gone xx
  • Well I have got a big in, I have bought a second hand laptop, the price and the laptop was too good to miss but I am selling my annoying tablet so that is how I am justifying it lol. I have some ebay items to post monday, 11 posted so far so progress is being made. My competition prizes arrived and will be going on ebay as I can't use most beauty and haircare products and have no one who can to gift them to as we all have same problem. Going to have another big listing day tomorrow and get more up on eBay. Also got a bag for charity shop and a few for the tip, saving until I have enough for a big trip.

I think the extra software on this laptop I have no use for may total 100 items! lol

Having now read,OK skimmed through this thread - I really couldnt devote the time to do it all justice so I started reading all odd number pages and then went up in 5's then 10's:rotfl:- I empathise with so many comments, dilemmas, situations etc: the emotional attachment to things, the clothes that dont fit, stuff bought and forgotten about, piles of paper work, the excuses, the endless cycle of sorting, clearing, throwing and putting back. The feelings of being clogged up by it all and yet undertsanding perfectly what is meant by ' a place for everything and everything in its place'! Then there are the over flowing cupboards and drawers and the multiple garden sheds full to the rafters......................... I thought it was only me:o

I certainly come from a family of squirrels. Coupled with being a teacher- I can find a use for most discarded stuff and always need boxes and tins to keep bits and bobs in - and a firm believer in keeping stuff out of landfill and throw in the mix a couple of emotional wobbles over the years I can probably justify/analyse why every nook and cranny, shelf, drawer, cupboard, attic and garden shed/outhouse is full to bursting. The house is not too bad from a tidy point of view but tends to be blitzed with stuff being dumped into 2 spare rooms ( one of which is supposed to be a office) and a conservatory which is not used cos its full of carp.

So........... on the list of my GMP 2012 ( great master plan) is to get rid of the clutter and return the conservatory to its righful use and what better way to start with 100 items in Feb! Truth be known I could ditch 100 items per room and it wouldnt make a dent!

I will report back with any progress later. I have some stuff on Eb*y which end today and have bids on so if nothing else there will be some items there.

Keep warm by vigorous decluttering folks! :p

I've started slowly this month by removing the January count from my sig :rotfl:

I've also binned 4 items of dead underwear and an elderly lip-salve, and as replacements were already in the house those are definite 'out's.

A lot of things will be going 'out' this month but replacements will have to come 'in', so I'm not going to count those.

I am going to have to weed the bookcase again, so I'm hoping that I can sell the books and use the money to stock the kindle - a real gain in terms of space!

And my piles of embroidery magazines are staring at me .... I'll have to have another century of life before I complete all the designs I want to sew! Oh dear, maybe I shall e-b*y some :(

Anyway: Ditch 100 in February 5/100
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

DH has taken a carload to the tip.
It is a full carload, not a small car either. I will count it as 10 items although in reality there is lot more.

    20. Old piano inc stand, box and accessories
    21. old baby bouncer metal frame for R
    22. baby bouncer fabric for school ragbag
    23. large broken plastic toy
    24. selection of broken wooden toys
    25. old dirty hall mat got wrecked whilst we decorated
    26 + 27. 2 enormous polystyrene boxes and lids
    28. large pile of card
    29. old light fittings which we removed whilst decorating in the summer!!
    30. DH is stopping off to drop off an event banner on the way back which has been sat on kitchen side for over a week

That will do for today I think. I have also now finished the parcel for sister's bday and boxed up music magpie order but will include those when I get them out of the house as they could be sat here for a while yet.

    Good morning all

Welcome to all the newbies, this is a great thread for encouragement and support.

Some great de-cluttering going on here today and some fun in the process too, we were awake early and we had a bit of a fashion show with other half and little one trying all their clothes on and sorting. Little ones wardrobe also had piles of books in that are overflowing from his bookcase so he's sorted through them too - both wardrobes are thanking me!! So here's my little update (for now)

8 "old" Yellow Pages - recycling
    9 various jars/bottles finished - recycling
10 various paper/mags (saved for? why?) - recycling
    11-27 16 books - school
28-39 items of Little one's clothes - charity
40-64 items of other half's clothes - charity
65-66 2 prs little ones pants - school (for spares)
    67 Child's waistcoat - school (for victorian dress-up)

Having a little break while little one and other half sledge then Im off to empty the shelves in the airing cupboard and sort - if I can sort then when I receive the £200 Debenhams vouchers I've won I can see what we "really" need and not just fritter it away :o

Keep up the great work everyone :T
