Arrrrghhh, my decluttering has ground to a halt, yesterday I managed:

    43. Bag of out of date vitamins chucked
    44. Bag of medication nolonger needed - chemist
    45. 2 plastic holders in bathroom in recycling, never used

Going to try hard to get to 100, I started off so well!! I have 90minutes now until going out on the school run, so going to have a good sort now hopefully!

Anyone else lagging behind like me? :o

got a big old tv to go, the really heavy out of date ones that no-one wants that need digi-boxes now too. It was so heavy we could barely lift it. Dont even know how we are going to get it to the tip its too heavy?

I suppose someone will collect it but they will charge??

My new vaccum came today and i'm pleased with it. Spoke to hubby last night and he said 'dont get rid of the old one yet in case i can fix it, then you can have one for upstairs and one for downstairs'. I despair i really do. I'm trying to declutter/simplify my house and whats in it and he's trying to clutter it up. I can see his point i suppose but its not that you can hide a vaccuum cleaner is it? Do i really want it on display when i walk into a room and what was the point of buying a new one if my old one can be fixed?

If i keep it i will have Henry (banished to the shed cause its useless with dog hairs on carpet). My old one, and my new one.

get rid of it you dont need one for up and down! Its clutter lol.

  • I've decided that these videos aren't going to sell so am giving them away. I collect retro kids stuff and I enjoy it but REALLY need to tame the collection!! Frees up free listings for stuff that actually might sell, if this woman comes pick them up then that's 40 more items gone lol.

Well i must admit i did go upstairs to see if i could hide it anywhere but your right, its clutter and i dont need a seperate vaccum for upstairs and downstairs so your right its going. If hubby pulls a face it can go down the shed with the rest of the junk.

Ebay is going slowly after the christmas break. Hardly any interest last free listing weekend and i thought the it was going to be the same this time too as ive not got many watchers however, ive just had a bid of £34 for one of my items which i'm pleased about.

I hope we don't have to count what is in Rosy, otherwise I will be in negative figures :D

At one time on a previous version of this thread most of us posted ins (other than consumables) as well as outs - I still do this & find it really helps me if I know I'm going to 'confess' the things I'm bringing in that aren't consumable.

    Hello all!!

I don't have a HUGE amount of clutter compared to some but it has definitely got to a point that i am not happy with. I have written a list of areas to declutter (36 in total) ranging from small things like the cutlery drawer to huge areas like the whole loft. I have worked through 8 areas and am keen to carry the motivation on....

    So far

Took EVERYTHING out of DD2's room the other day and sorted it all back in. One binbag of rubbish and about 10 items to sell :D

Sorted out all our cups, glasses and plates. Decluttered 21 items from there. Some for the bin and some for charity shops

Have gone through and arranged all food cupboards neatly - about 5 out of date items in the bin

Sorted my jewellery box too - about 10 items i dont wear gone from there.

    Next stop - DD1's room!!!!! :D

Happy decluttering everyone - i love it!!!!

  • Oh, I definitely need a good declutter! I have more stuff than I have flat to put it in :(

I've done a few things so far this month -

Sorted bags of unfiled paperwork  , filing, shredding or recycling as appropriate.

Threw out a mouldy pair of shoes, must have put them away damp :o They were already past their best, so not a total waste.

Taken some old bras to Bravissimo for their Tommy's collection http://www.tommys.org/page.aspx?pid=841 :)

Matched two 'bargains bought to give as gifts' (several years ago!)with upcoming birthday and housewarming parties

Next, I need to have a good rummage to find some ebayable items!

Oh, and I can throw out that eyelash dying kit that's only ever been used once, about two years ago - the rest can't possibly be safe to use! I'll do that now...

  • Well, good afternoon fellow declutterers :T

OH and I have had the sickness bug that's doing the rounds (strange as we rarely get stuff like this). Needless to say that decluttering was not on the agenda (neither was eating to be fair!). Just starting to feel better again.

37 - Mahoosive bag of cardboard decluttered to the cardboard bin. Never been so happy to hear that lorry turn up to empty the recycling bins.

Doubt I'll get much more done throughout Jan as OH is off this weekend (woo!) so we're going to do something together. However, I am NOT disappointed at not getting to 100, I have still managed to get 37 (probably more because I amalgamated items on my list) out of my house in January. I will be determined to continue into February which is a typical use-up month for us anyway so it all ties in nicely!
How long til pay day?

Had a day off work today and had renewed vigour as we are going to view a bungalow on Saturday. Totally out of the blue as we had decided we were settled where we are and were going to get the kitchen done in April.

Managed to sort another set of drawers in the sitting room and chucked the hundreds of pens, pencils, crayons that we had collected over the years. Also sorted out two top cupboards in the bedroom and the top of another wardrobe. Also done a bit more in the spare room and got rid of quite a few children's books so I am starting to see the floor now.

    63 - 66 – 4 carrier bags of videos (charity shop)
67 – pack of headbands (charity shop)
68 – old battery operated air freshener (bin)
69 – 5 old computer books (Charity shop)
    70 – 3 pencil cases (charity shop)
71 – new pack of pencils (charity shop)
    72 – 4 jumpers (charity shop)
73 – clothing for rags (garage)
74 – various carp from another set of drawers in the sitting room (bin)
75 – pile of children’s books (charity shop)
76 – soft toys (charity shop)
77 – pair of ladies leather gloves unworn (charity shop)
78 – more uni notes (recycle bin)
79 – hubby’s ECDL course notes (recycle bin)
