I'm really going to struggle with decluttering for the rest of January I think, work has taken over in a big way. However last night I had a blitz and removed 2 pairs of DS's shoes he'd outgrown, a toddler step (DD is nearly 7!), lots of cardboard, more CDs and more toys.
I'll try to get to 100 but I'm not too worried as at the beginning I counted a whole sack of stuff as 1 item so I feel I've done well enough and if I can't manage more while i'm snowed under with work I'll start again in Feb.

  • Going great guns here. A rug and two cushions freegled today. All of my DD's PJs and Dressing Gowns that are outgrown are now in a bundle for freegle too.

I keep approaching this by item type. I try and get everything together of that sort and then I can easily see what can go. Stuff is flying out at the moment. yay!

  • Now up to 53 items on eBay. I will probably slow down a bit next week if I go back to work on Monday. But gonna keep up the eBay as I finish at 3 so I can get down the Post Office. Putting stuff on Ebay is so tiring, bed time I think!!

  • Had one of my purge weekends and sorted out my make up bag (23 year old lipstick anyone? First one I ever bought!) and the bathroom shelves. Was planning to get another small filing cabinet as the one we had was overflowing but after a few hours of shredding I can now fit everything in it. 2 recycling bin bags worth gone! Also got rid of some clothes that were too big or too shredded to do anything with to Mr Binny Man.

Took some books into work and put them on the staffroom bookshelves.

One bag of other stuff dropped off to CS in my lunchtime. Felt really good giving it over.:)

My next hotspot is a set of plastic drawers in the study. I'll look forward to decluttering them next weekend. :D

Anyone know how to get rid of old floppy disks without too much hassle? Wish I had an industrial strength shredder!

Not much to report, but managed a quick sort out of a pile of stuff in the corner of my bedroom.

    - managed to fill a paper bag with loads of papers to go out into paper bin.

    - tore up large cardboard box in to pieces and put in paper bin.

I've not had much of a chance, as just can't get much done when the kids are around -not their fault I know. Had a wasted day on Saturday and just felt like a heavy weight was on my shoulders all day, so felt like crying - and poor DH got the brunt of it when he got in from work. :( Just got to accept I can't get stuck in to the mess how I'd like to and will have to just do little bits here and there. Oh how I hate this flipping mess!

  • decluttering has ground to a halt here, I've got lots of things to sell but no interest at the moment on any of the sites I have listed them on. Will have to hang on for another month for car boot season.

My new vaccum came today and i'm pleased with it. Spoke to hubby last night and he said 'dont get rid of the old one yet in case i can fix it, then you can have one for upstairs and one for downstairs'. I despair i really do. I'm trying to declutter/simplify my house and whats in it and he's trying to clutter it up. I can see his point i suppose but its not that you can hide a vaccuum cleaner is it? Do i really want it on display when i walk into a room and what was the point of buying a new one if my old one can be fixed?

If i keep it i will have Henry (banished to the shed cause its useless with dog hairs on carpet). My old one, and my new one.

  • I've started on eBay, am putting my videos on there at the moment. Probably won't sell but worth a try.
