Keeping up appearances.......

Now that I have set my targets, here is my update for yesterday...
1) To have at least 15 NCDs - Not a good start, no NCD, I appear to have a lot of rubbish in the house that needs using up. Cake still your downfall then? I'm a Flylady this month so I recommend 'clearing away' all the goodies to remove the temptation. How you clear them away is up to you, but you know the right thing to do........
2) To meal plan at the end of the week for the following week - I took the time yesterday to plan our meals for the rest of the week and went shopping this morning for most things so not a bad start. Much admiration for people who meal plan. I've never, ever, ever done it. A possibility for October.
3) Be in bed by 10.00pm and light out by 10.30pm Sunday to Thursday - Was in bed by 10.15pm but light didn't go out until 11.30pm and then I had a very sleepless night. I have no doubt I'll have a better night tonight as I am so tired (assuming I can stay awake all day)
4) At least 30 minutes walking during the day - Nope.
Definitely need to up my game.LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!
Debt Dec 11: Unsecured £69,579 + Mortgage £59,948 = £129,527
Debt May 21: Unsecured ZERO! ZILCH! Mortgage £22,3321 -
Day 1, yesterday.
- I will eat healthily and not excessively, with 5 x F & V Oh, absolute mega fail. The digger man was here and he put in a long day, and he also brought his dad with a tractor. Because they were shifting soil from a field onto our new garden area, Mr H and I had to spread and level it as it came - and it came quickly. Food consisted of grabbing anything that was in the cupboard and scoffing it on the hoof, to give us the energy to keep up with them. Mainly chocolate and biscuits. As a positive I burnt a lot of calories. As a negative I needed ibuprofen to climb the stairs.
- No more than one bottle of wine per week. Wine week supposedly starts on Fridays. This week it started yesterday. One third of a bottle drunk which is quite restrained after having had most of August off, but I wasn't sure how it would react with the ibuprofen and I was too exhausted to google it.
- Six glasses of water daily. Probably.
- Complete Flylady Level One as a minimum every day, although Friday's will be done on Saturdays because Fridays are mad. We don't fly on Sundays. I have already started today.
- Be pro-active with money. Not just zero waste, but actually DO something - take surveys, selling etc etc. Not yet, but I will

Your weekend sounds lovely Seasidegal. Targets are meant to be broken and you wouldn’t have enjoyed yourself as much if you had been trying to hit your goals.
Another one from Yorkshire - I grew up near York so I know it well. It’s a lovely place to live and I’m sure the time will fly and you will be living there before you know it.
I’m looking forward to Serious September – good title Dolphin. My targets
Flying – 15 minutes per day
Pampering – I always remove make up / moisturise my face but this doesn’t extend to the rest of me where I’m a bit slap dash so this month I will take better care of the rest of me.
Complete a project – I have a number of half finished projects so I will aim to complete at least one by the end of September
Finances – update spreadsheet when required and not leave it until the end of the month.0 -

As a positive I burnt a lot of calories. As a negative I needed ibuprofen to climb the stairs. Well done for keeping up with Dan the Diggerman AND Dan the Digger Man's Dad. Impressive. Celery doesn't cut it on days like that, and you'll be pleased to hear that wine and ibuprophen are an excellent combination.
- No more than one bottle of wine per week. Wine week supposedly starts on Fridays. This week it started yesterday. One third of a bottle drunk which is quite restrained after having had most of August off, but I wasn't sure how it would react with the ibuprofen and I was too exhausted to google it. Medicinally, is how they react. The wine's a relaxant, obvs, and the ibuprophen ensures that if you drink a bit more than you should your brain doesn't swell because of its anti-inflammatory qualities.
- Six glasses of water daily. Probably. With that amount of physical effort you'd have fainted if you didn't reload on liquid.
- Complete Flylady Level One as a minimum every day, although Friday's will be done on Saturdays because Fridays are mad. We don't fly on Sundays. I have already started today. Well done, particularly in the circumstances. There are days when it might not be the highest priority though, and I think we can let ourselves on those. (Which might explain why this place is always a bit of a tip.)
- Be pro-active with money. Not just zero waste, but actually DO something - take surveys, selling etc etc. Not yet, but I will
Clearly on a day like that there are higher priorities (see Flying section).Better is good enough.0 - I will eat healthily and not excessively, with 5 x F & V Oh, absolute mega fail. - To have hit 63 kgs at some point on the scales over the course of the month which will require a steady downward tragectory. Not talking about this one today.
- 15 minutes Flying per day. Cleaned the oven. I'd polish my halo but that would be more cleaning, so nah.
- Stretches after each dog walk. One out of three is enough, isn't it? Must try harder.
- Clear one paperwork Frog each week (minutes, tax return, stocktake freezer and food cupboards). Ran out of time again, which is why it's on here. Fail.

Now that I have set my targets, here is my update for yesterday...
1) To have at least 15 NCDs - Not a good start, no NCD, I appear to have a lot of rubbish in the house that needs using up. Is there a tin you can store (some of?) the crap in until the end of the month? With a string tied around it and one of the utterly useless padlocks that come out of Christmas crackers that we can't quite bring ourselves to throw away, so hang around as an irritant until a rare but perfect opportunity arises to use it, such as Right Now! If you had to find the key, undo the lock, and then untie the string, it might stop you from scoffing when tempted.
2) To meal plan at the end of the week for the following week - I took the time yesterday to plan our meals for the rest of the week and went shopping this morning for most things so not a bad start. Well done. Well done. I've taken to planning as far as the next few days by saying to myself, Freezer pies, fish fillets, pizza, flan, pasta, fish and chips, pasta etc rather than a more detailed plan, so that I know roughly what we've got in and can then allocate it as we feel on the day. OH is usually more interested in how we're having potatoes - mash, roasties, chips, boiled, saute etc. I'd be quite happy if I never saw another potato other than as a chip.
3) Be in bed by 10.00pm and light out by 10.30pm Sunday to Thursday - Was in bed by 10.15pm but light didn't go out until 11.30pm and then I had a very sleepless night. I have no doubt I'll have a better night tonight as I am so tired (assuming I can stay awake all day). Well done on being in bed early; it's half the battle. Do you know why you slept so badly?
4) At least 30 minutes walking during the day - Nope. But as Scarlet O'Hara says, 'Tomorrow is another day!'
Definitely need to up my game.
If it were easy to meet all of our targets we wouldn't need to be here, would we?Better is good enough.0 -
Honey Bear - good news that your weight loss is continuing in the right direction. I'm joining you with the flying again and hope it becomes a routine but I think I will struggle with it.
Dolphin - The Elnora household has given up chocolate for the month but I haven't included it as a target because the stores have been eaten and I won't buy any more :rotfl: this should be a no fail target - well on paper it looks easy. Good luck with your NCD target.
Happy - Day 1 was a busy day and a Sunday so I think you have a free pass but I think you did well under the circumstances.
Day 1 for me - I hadn't decided on my targets so couldn't fail
Day 2
Flying – lots as I needed to make up for Sunday
Pampering – no as it just didn't enter my mind
Complete a project – no, too busy flying!
Finances – no, run out of excuses.

I really need to learn how to multi quote! Thank you so much for a lovely warm welcome. I am still catching up (page 92!) and this diary has replaced my book for nighttime/anytime reading! As soon as I have caught up I would love to join in target setting!
Happy lots of similarities - I live in glorious West Yorkshire & spent the August bank holiday weekend in Noethumberland! It was glorious xx0 -

Jus' showing off the ol' multi quote to impress BB50. It's easy - just click on the double speech bubble (next to the normal quote button) on the posts you want to quote - I think it lets you do three. Then click 'post reply' at the bottom of the page. You can then edit out any guff you don't want to quote, and just write your message underneath what's left, outside of the quote marks).
How embarrassing it would be if we turned out to be neighbours. Well for me anyway! I've thought many times throughout this diary that even though we keep our names/addresses private, anyone who knows me in real life would recognise me straightaway.:D
So, Northumberland. Where would you recommend? We're planning on Alnwick Castle for one day, beach walks for another, but that still leaves a third day free.
Elnora Well done for deciding some targets. Now you've just got to actually do themLots of flying done though which is excellent and very much admired.
