RIAS don't cover Trace and Access. Do a search on here to find out what it means if you don't already know.

    What is Trace and Access?

Did that! it was the AA, told them and all they said was "I can see why your cancelling"

Remarkable, Yet last year they were the cheapest quote.

My rule: NEVER, Accept the first quote.

Good rule MollyAnn. I just switched as well a few months ago and it was a lifesaver!

last tuesday a lorry crashed into ours and our neighbours front garden.
We have opened a claim on our house insurance to replace our hedge.

is it normal in these circumstances that the entire costs are recovered from the drivers insurance including our excess?

our insurers have appointed solictors to start the recovery process.

We are also concerned how this will impact on next years premium, as we have in effect made a claim.

If you have a leak say in your bathroom, the insurance will cover damage caused by the leak. However it won't cover the cost of finding the source such as tearing down the walls or the floor.
  • On the 13th of December I accidentally dropped my laptop. I phone my insurers Lloyds TSB who have asked me to get a report and pay £50 for the pleasure of it which I might add is non refundable and not part of my £50 excess! I have done this and faxed off the report which states that my motherboard is cracked and if "Beyond Economical Repair". I have now been advised that Lloyds TSB use a company called EVS who contact me and ask me for my £50 excess on the phone before they even deal with me and they want my old laptop too. I am disgusted to the core at being asked to pod out £100 for my laptop which was 2 years old and in pristine condition, until I dropped it. I feel that this is a real rip off by insurance companies to ensure people don't claim. I was warned that my 35% no claims will go down to 25% and my next renewal would cost more on the telephone to Lloyds TSB. I would like to know is this regular practice for insurance companies now to ask the insuree to pay for their own report which like I have stated is non refundable. What a rip off, what else could I do?:-(

I definitely agree! Shopping around before purchasing is the smartest thing you can do in my opinion.

  • Hi - quick question - has anyone heard of Chase Templeton? I got a quote for building and contents from moneysupermarket and they beat it and I get free mobile phone cover with it. I asked the adviser why I had never heard of them and they said the home insurance is usually only for existing customers because it's such a good deal they cant advertise it. but I got it??
  • Simple question, can you get a quote from a price comparison site and then get cashback on top? Reason I ask is that if I get quote via cashback site its usually much higher.

My AA Home Contents renewal is £42 best price I have found so far is £49.71 [again AA] hoping to get a little cashback on top

    Thanks

    Kev
  • Our house and contents are insured through Lloyds TSB and have been for eight years one with Lloyds themselves and the other with Zurich.
However having checked the annual amounts - which is all I usually do, I started reading the document through.
Our dates of birth were incorrect - though mine was right on one policy.
The time at this address was quoted as 1 year on one and as two years on the other, thought we started living here in 1998
Several other points such as did we have lodgers etc were marked 'unknown'
I phoned up to correct these points and was told that my policy would cost me £36.00 less than quoted.
I'm pretty miffed about this as I think I may have been paying more that I should in previous years.
All information given at the outset was accurate, so I don't understand how it has been changed. I intend to write and complain - also the document acknowledging changes did not list the changes - a bit sloppy.

Thanks to all of information posted - Interested to read articles about Quidco - have never heard of that one - maybe next year.....
