Many apologies if posted in wrong place, but I need help..... My home insurance is not up for renewal until April and I currently pay monthly (although that will now stop after reading this site) - can I cancel my home insurance to change to a cheap alternative at any time?:hello:0

Your Policy is your contract always read it and if you can find some one elses to read.
Also companies like Saga really look after you I know I was an Insurance Surveyor when other companies do not.
Try to find some one who has made a claim and if they had a good experience the right company and the right amount of money are important especially when you are in a mess.
Dont just go for cheap !0 -
Buildings - any thing that would not fall out if you turned your house upside down ( exept cooker or plumbed in fridge)0

If you drive your car into your house the house insurance will take a third party claim agaist your car insurance.
If its minor just get it repaired as your premium will go up and you will pay any way.
Change insurance ? well they all share information about you.0 -
Hi Claremp7...thanks, you're absolutely right...they do have £2m "owner liability" cover but the insurers are just playing about saying that "no negligence" can be attributed. I've been in constant contact with my car insurers and its like "The Emperor's New Clothes"...to someone outside the industry, their excuses seem mad!!0

Which part of a motor policy do you expect to pay out for the home owner hitting their own house with their own car ?0 -
Selecting new Home Insurance is really wearing me out. I've been to all the comparison sites including Defaqto and was about to sign up with Sainsbury's.
However, they ask no questions about a business in the home, which other insurers do and which rules me out of Saga. They do not ask the approximate rebuild cost which other insurers do. They do have a UK call centre and do not charge more for monthly payments, but have other small print differences to the one who currently insures us - Santander - who are clearly overcharging. Everyone else quotes less.
I'm so sick of this, it takes HOURS, that I think I'll go down to the broker's office tomorrow and show him all the printouts. Having said that, he's just a youth in front of a computer, and can do everything which I have already done.
Insurance really depresses me.0 -
Hi, I have just privately rented a house for the first time and have been advised to get home insurance but I've never had it before and don't nowhere to start so I'm completely clueless?! Any pointers in the right direction will be greatly appreciated. Thank you0
