Just had my renewal from Barclays at £325.36.
Checked it online with them and the same policy was £206.00, about what i paid last year.
Called them and they priced matched the online price immediately. Good they did this, helped by a Santander quote of £205.00, but this the second time i have had to point out the new online price was cheaper than the renewal.
Me too! £397 renewal slashed to £180 to match the on-line price in one phonecall :j Best morning's work so far this year!:D0 -
Yes, you can adopt the insurance in the different because all companies has there own rules. It depends upon you what type of insurance you are interested in.0

Please help -we can not get contents insurance from anyone
.
We were burgled in June this year, the claim was declined as they got through an unlocked window (be it a very small one) but fair enough we should have locked it! Our insurance cover ran out just after the incident but we never got a renewal notice or anything -i realised i wasnt insured when i called them to ask a unrelated question. So as of July i haven't been insured!! I have been calling and doing internet quotes but everything comes back with "no-one will insure you"
Apparently becuase we have had 2 burgalries in the past 5 years of simular nature (at different addresses) we can not be insured!!! Is this right?! What am i supposed to do now?!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Helen0 -
Forum newbie here...
I recently bought a one bedroomed flat in Glasgow & wondered if anyone knew what was the average fee on buildings insurance? There are 11 properties in the block and I have been informed by my factor that my 11th share of the insurance is £200 a year which I have to pay in advance of the year the insurance covers. As I only moved in 4 months ago I have now been handed a hefty bill of £180 (insurance runs from end of April and I moved in mid June) to pay for buildings insurance to cover up to next April.
Any thoughts?0 -
Just checking my home insurance. My old insurer (Direct Line) want me to renew at 830, but price comparison websites suggest from 250. Am wondering if I am getting something really wrong, or if Direct Line just fleecing me.
Also, I have a living room knocked through to dining room. Does that count as one or two rooms. Also, should I count cellar rooms as number of rooms? I only use them for storing stuff and the washing machine.0 -
Saga's renewal quote this year was £336, last year it was £224 (thats building and contents) when I rang to complain and mentioned things like customer loyalty , no claims, and cheaper quotes from elsewhere, they said the only way to get a reduction was to go to someone else for a year, them reapply to get a new customer discount.
Well I have gone to someone else, Swinton found me the same cover for £108!, and I shall not be going back to Saga.0 -
Hi!
I was hoping someone might be able to help me.
I have had contents insurance for the past 10 years, never made any claims and have always paid on time. I should now have 11 years no claims bonus.
My contents insurance was due for renewal in Nov 2009. I shopped around and got a cheaper quote with Kwik Fit. Went ahead with it. Set up a direct debit, like I have for the past 10 years, with all of my contents insurance policies, to pay monthly. All was fine and dandy, or so I thought.
I received a debt collection letter two weeks ago to say that Kwik Fit have are chasing me for my premium. I was socked as I have never owed one penny in debt in my life. Called Kwik Fit straight away and was told that due to me not paying the premium up front they cancelled my insurance in January of this year. I had no idea this had happened. I told them I'd selected to pay it monthy when I filled out the form online to take contents insurance with them. I put in all my bank details and I received my documents in the post shortly after to confirm this. I have the certificate from Kwik Fit to say I am insured! They said they'd sent me letters and emails about it but I haven't received any contact from them at all about this issue until I got the letter from the debt collection agency. I explained that I never agreed to pay the premium all at once, I have never done this, ever. I just assumed everything was tickety boo. They have now backed down, the debt collection agency have been informed that there has been a mistake on Kwik Fit's part.
My problem now is that unknown to me I haven't been insured for almost a year, which I just can't believe. This has never happened to me before. I'm desperately trying to take on new contents insurance but the new companies are asking what no claims I have. What do I do? Do I have 11 years now or do I have 10, considering I haven't been insured for the past year or do I now not have any no claims bonus?
I am so angry at Kwik Fit and I will never, ever use them for anything again.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.0 -
