Hi there, i wanted to know if it is worth getting house insurance if i just want to insure a couple of items 2-3 macs and some dj equipment, would it be cheaper to insure these individually? i only really want to insure against theft and maybe damage

Been refused home insurance from Esure - can anyone ask who would take me on if I have been refused by another insurer. Had a £3,000 claim for an underground burst pipe which caused some damage.

HI Everyone,

Wonder if any of you could give a little advice. Ive been with the same house ins co. for the past 15 years, and only recently lodged my second ever claim. My jewelry box was completely emptied, and it held one item that is irreplaceable, my mums ring,(she died 4 yrs ago).
Any how, after all the garb of police reports etc, they have offered me the total cost of replacing all my stolen things in the form of a voucher, to be honest, there was over 20 years of jewelry, it has so far taken a year to get to this point, and im resigned to the fact i'll never see it again, so in reality what the hell am i going to do with a jewelry voucher worth over 7 grand.??? ive asked for a cash settlement, but they have insisted on the voucher. I could use the money more wisely, as i have a disabled son, so what is the way forward from here.????? Im upset, as all the items were sentimental to me, and replacing them just isnt the same.
Ive just had to renew my policy with them as the claim is ongoing, but really am upset and frustrated at it all, please help.

Rakles refer your Insurer to this link from the Ombudsman, specifically this paragraph.

"In some cases, policyholders may not wish to purchase a replacement for the damaged or stolen goods. This may be, for example, because their circumstances have changed, or the object had sentimental value. Where this is the case, we will normally ask the insurer to agree a cash settlement."

Can someone point me in the direction of the guide please?
I need to look at whether to renew my ins with HAlifax or whether I can find cheaper.
