    hi

does anyone know anywhere that does short term over?

Our current policy expires in November and we move in December! Phoned the current policy company and they say you can renew but you need to pay the full anount and then you can cancel when you move (we are moving in with family for a bit) but there is a charge.

    Cheers

    Brilliant, thanks :)

Just done that now. I'm pretty new to Quidco, only joined two months ago, can you tell me how long before that cashback should show in my Quidco account? Just looked and there's nothing there yet.

Im overseas just now and my son has ben staying in the house.he now is moving with his job.My policy states no claims for unoccupancy for after 60 days. I cannot guarantee he will visit home within those 60 days. Can anyone rec an insurance company who will do this cover for longer onoccupied..or am I covered if my other son goes up and stays for a night within that period. It will be Feb before I am back home.
  • I agree, let the experts handle it. I was shopping for insurance quotes last week and had no idea what the best type of policy would be or how much coverage I really needed. I can say this for sure though, over doing it with the coverage is always better. Got burned trying to go too cheap one time and need insurance to cover home damage. Unfortunately for me I only got a fraction of what it was worth. So if you're really confused definitely go for more coverage than you think you might need.
  • Does anyone know of ANY home insurance company that will respect its loyal customers and not just bung an extra £100 quid on for renewal vs new customers until you ring them to move, whereupon they miraculously find a "loyalty bonus"? Reading these forums: It seems that direct line may be the worst, but this generally seems to be considered normal now?
More worryingly: - Has anyone else noticed a trend of insurance companies claiming they have credit card continuous payment authority when they do not and sending out a notice saying they will take the payment (for the extra £100 of course) anyway.
Direct line have just done exactly this to me despite me very clearly confirming last year that it was a single payment only the previous year and then, when I rang to object, had the cheek to condescendingly claim that I must have not understood what I was doing . - I would assume this was a one-off mistake, but it seems coincidental that I have just cancelled my Green flag breakdown cover (both owned by RBS?) after finally giving up when they have also sent these claims for the 3rd year despite never having been granted continuous payment authority, being told every year that they do not (verbally and in writing) and even confirming to me in writing that they do not - Then sending the notice they will take my money anyway again.. Is this the latest response to the credit crunch? Is anyone else seeing this despicable practise?

Think Liverpool Victoria tend to be one of the more reputable companies.

Last year I insured with Shelias wheels. The 4 bed detached house had unlimited cover and the contents cover for £45000 plus legal protection cover. As it was the first year I also received free home emergency cover valued at £600. The total cost was £101.85. The cost to renew this year was £130 which I thought was very reasonable and and it now includes protected no claims discount. :T
    I did have a 40 % discount as I had not made a claim for 5 years !

Hi I work for your-move insurance brokers.
We have a company called prestige on our books - their manual policies can offer cover for unoccupied properties.
There are clauses - such as won't be covered for escape of water, malicious damage or theft due to the property being unoccupied - but will still cover you for the other main perils.

also if you have someone regularly visiting the property to keep an eye and have the heating on a timer it will help.

if you call through on 0845 300 4982 and ask to be put through to sales, they'll help.
Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!
