Hi Everyone. Newbie reporting in.
Im having real problems getting quotes from insurance companies as I was a casualty of the floods in Hull in 2007
Can anybody suggest the names of companies that maybe able to help me out please?
I need buildings and contents coverLife isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.

Is there any reason you are not staying with your current Insurer as this is normally the best and cheapest option0
-
Yes they hiked the monthly premium up by £17 and when I called the to query this they said it must be an error and they would have to requote me.
Once they put my details into the system it flagged me as having been flooded and since they are now owned by Lloyds they could no longer offer me coverLife isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.

You really need to contact them and speak to a superviser, be polite and remind them that Insurers normally will continue to offer cover to homes that have previously flooded. This should normally get them to offer you a quotation.
If they do not play ball come back and let us know so we can give you further advice.
Are you with Halifax?0 -

WAS yes. My cover ran out 4 weeks ago, have been searching for an alternate provider sinceLife isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.

You could try your mortgage provider for a quote.
Personally I would get onto Halifax as normally they will offer cover as the Insurer that paid the flood claim (You will find it very very difficult finding anyone else prepared to offer a quote)0 -
Halifax werent insuring me when I claimed for flood. Ironically they approached me the following year offering deals for flood victims.
I shall try Alliance & Leicester. ThanksLife isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.

Any help appreciated.
A friend has a new build next door to their own home and they need FULL buildings cover for it - absolutely max cover (high end spec house).
So far they have been quoted well over £1000 for 12 months. This seems ludicrous an amount.
Anyone any ideas of a company that might be interested in an as yet unsold empty high end 5 bed detached property?
Thanks.:o0
