  • Welcome whilley, I have the same probs with my flaws so tend not to bother with hand made gifts for them, its a waste of time and energy

Spent an hour reading the gifts in a jar thread from 2009 (didnt realise I had been a member that long!) And rediscovered some ideas that I had forgotten about ! So I have decided to do a journal in a jar for my brothers girl friend and a kids version for my niece. If anyone wants a link to the thread let me know and i'll do it next time I'm on the computer

The problem is, not bothering causes just as much hassle as bothering...catch 22! Was tempted by the 'jar of nothing' I came across earlier but that would cause all out war I think

The link for the journal in a jar would be fab...off for a hunt but probably won't find it. I currently have a herd of jars on my dining table (everything comes in herds in my house...paperclips, pegs, children lol :rotfl:)

Have you had any luck with this? We tried all sorts from boiling water, heating in the oven and being really careful with knives and screwdrivers!!!
In the end I got fed up and put a thin tin foil 'cup' in the bottom to hold a tealight and hide the glue bit :o

Well nail varnish didn't do the trick as I'm assuming there's not enought acetone in there so I think it's going to have to be pure acetone. They look terrible from the side so really need removing before I can do anything with them!

  • willey- not to worry about the scrapbooks, when your flaws get dementia they will appreciate them as a reminder of their life history!!!!!!!!!!

Hello! I was wondering if anyone had made flavoured oils as gifts? I have the recipes and I was also going to make some flavoured vodkas too.

However - what bottles do you use? I've looked at buying some from Lakeland etc or even eBay and they seem pricey!

Has anyone else done this and where did you get your bottles from? Could I reuse oil bottles I'd bought anyway (e.g olive oil) - I wondered if they'd be secure as the seal would have been broken.

    Thanks!

Just an idea but what about treating yourself to a mini bottle of wine one night and then using the bottle - not sure how you could reseal it safely. I have always wanted to do little bottles of flavoured vodka but always stumbled on the price of the bottles. Hope you get some good cheap ideas :)
