    Hello everyone,

I have 30 empty glass Glade candle holders that I am hoping to decorate like this:

    http://www.radicalpossibility.com/2012/06/easy-confetti-tumblers.html

I have managed to remove the decorative plastic wrap that was round them and am currently working on removing the stickers underneath. The problem I have is that Glade seem to have stuck the wick base (the little silver disc thing) into the bottom of the glass with what seems to be superglue as I simply can't remove them and therefore it renders the potential tumblers/tealight holders useless!

Anyone got any ideas for how to remove these?

    Thanks,

    Nuninge

I've managed to get them out before using a knife. Just BE CAREFUL :o I managed to slice myself whilst doing it.

The shape of the glasses makes it really hard to do this but I have just googles how to remove superglue from glass and there seems to be a general consensus that acetone works (certain nail varnish removers are made with this), so think I might give that a go. Thank you though.

I am making some flannel yule logs this year and wanted to put them in a box but am having real problem finding any. Please Please does anyone have any ideas where I can get some?
  • been out this morning and brought everything i need to make a filofaxs as a present for a couple of friends, hopfully it works and gona make a start on it tonight im out for dinner early but if im back early enough i plan to make a start tonight, im stupidly excited aswell because i got a filling cabinet yesterday (yes i know it sad:( ) and we only need the top draw for our paperwork so the bottom draw has been claimed as my craft draw, which is brilliant as the kids cant open it and nick my stuff (simple things .....)

Have you had any luck with this? We tried all sorts from boiling water, heating in the oven and being really careful with knives and screwdrivers!!!
In the end I got fed up and put a thin tin foil 'cup' in the bottom to hold a tealight and hide the glue bit :o

How are you making the filofaxes? Are they homemade from card? Are you putting your own filling in them? They sound intriguing...

  • Wow...having spent a few hours reading the whole thread I am now well and truly inspired! :j I hope you don't mind me joining you all??

A friend of mine recently suggested that I actually have no need to buy Christmas gifts and should make them all. Having thought about it for a couple of days I decided to rise to the challenge.

    I am slightly concerned though...
I know my mother will be happy with whatever random gift she is given (easily pleased :) ) and will appreciate the effort put in to a 'homemade' gift - she is a crafter too so we have had lots of conversations recently discussing ideas etc. I know my friends will also love made gifts.

...my worry is certain members of the 'in-law' brigade who have commented in the past that homemade cards 'are cheaper and you're just saving money'! (If only that were true!!) They did however then complain when they didn't get a handmade card...can't win! I am not sure how they will react to homemade gifts. A couple of years ago I made MIL & FIL a scrapbook with lots of their family photos from when they first got together right up to the grandkids...while the right noises were made, it just didn't seem sincere (and the scrapbook is now in the box in the understair cupboard with all the old photo's :( )

The friend who set me this challenge quite plainly stated that if they don't appreciate a homemade gift then they don't deserve any gift! :T (I really do love her!!:p) My concern is it will be my OH who has to deal with the fall out if they don't like the gifts :(

Any way I have ideas on what I am making...a range of things including sock monkeys, chocolate cups, ultimate hot chocolate sets, cookies in a jar, salt scrubs and butterfly pictures...a busy few months ahead! I am hoping one of you lovely crafters could advise how far in advance I can make the cookies in a jar and salt scrubs? In a 'normal' year where I buy all gifts, they would be 90% bought (and wrapped) by the end of the summer holidays ;)
