When i worked in a supermarket i found that the real pros were the old people who knew exactly how dates worked and what time everything was reduced.
They would be in the store for hours, checking everything out andmaking lists of what would be reduced.
Then they select some of the items after the first small reduction and walk around with them in their trolley for a couple of hours until final reduction time
The item then gets put back on the shelf as you are reducing, in the hope that you don't notice and reduce it further for them

I'm laughing about folk giving whoopsied meat and such to their pets. Many are the times I've gone through the checkout with £5 worth of whoopsies for me and the family and a £10 bag of full price cat food for the cats. (They are fussy little gits and only like One dried food.) I wish they would eat Whoopsies!

:rotfl:One day I bumped into a friend (well, an ex-workmate) near the Whoospies - mad scrum going on there so I was giving it a miss - friend took me by the arm and led me to a trolley nearby that was neatly stacked from base to top with greatly reduced pizzas, so I took two. Other people did the same; man who was shopping at the Whoopsies let out a roar and said it was his trolley of shopping - the thing is, MY "FRIEND" KNEW, he'd already annoyed her so she was getting her revenge by leading people to it, we were ROFLing all over the place by then!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow

Nooooo.. I got confused and thought DUKE was calling me a greedy pig for taking the items haha. I've got the same attitude to it as you :)
  • What I laugh at is when you see someone poking to the back of the shelf to get an item with the freshest date on. Then when they get to the reduced section they see the exact same item with today's date on reduced, they dump the fresh one for the reduced one.

Its not so bad in our Morrisons, everyone if fairly polite and casual about it all. The worst and most annoying thing I have seen is the old trolley in the way trick. A woman was doing this the other evening so I thought I will go and do a bit more shopping and come back when she had finished, ten minutes later she was still there! No idea what she was doing very odd.

Went last night and there was quite a bit of crowd at the cream cake chiller when someone came out with a sticker machine - made me smile. Poor guy looked really intimidated, all those people stood around watching him as he stickered as fast as he could.

I like a bargain, but I prefer manners!!

As for taking food out of his kids mouth...tough...they can learn to share the chicken breasts and have more mash or whatever with it!!!

The majority of people wont grab all of the meat/fish/fruit/veg etc thats been reduced but they will 2 so theres more left for others. There are those who just dotn play fair and will do what it takes to stop anyone else getting a look in.
