I'll ususlly not be too greedy with reduced items, but if its a gluten free bargain i'll take as much as i can store...Genius bread at 35p a loaf, i took all 6
  • Ive regularly seen in my local Morrisons a couple in their 30's solely in there for the purpose of whoopsie nabbing. Wait for it... they have walkie talkies to alert each other! They are completely serious about the whole thing!

    Haha!!! Hilarious!! :rotfl:
  • Actually Ive often been lucky to get chilled meats reduced quite low in Asda and I do give it to the pets. There is still a bit of a stigma about buying reduced items, and lets face it at the moment a lot of us are cash strapped, so we kid ourselves and try to kid others that its for our elderly mum/neighbour/starving pet rather than ourselves. Lying is a bit harsh! The Government and the banks lie, we just try and get by.

Ive come across meanies like you with the power of the reducing gun, lol. meanie, meanie, meanie...

I always find a little bit of flirting weakens my local meanie.

Its the last day of the year guys.... happy 2012!

Surely you are the one that is mean ?
  • I'm not one to ask for stuff reducing on demand, but the other day there was some loaves of hovis on the reduced rack, and the use by date was that day. So I did take it to the bakery counter and ask if it was supposed to have a reduced sticker on it as it was on the rack and use by way that day and she said it was supposed to be and put it down to 20p, so I did go get another one and have frozen them.

I've never really come across snatching at the whoopies sections or anything, I do always make a beeline for them, and I ALWAYS go to them when I go shopping. I never ever miss out on checking whats there. You never know what you might find :)

I will admit to being greedy with some things though. But lets be honest, the majority of things we get off the reduced parts, we don't plan on buying when we go in, or at least I don't. I just see a bargain that will get used eventually, and buy it. However, on one of those rare occasions that something I actually planned on buying, was on the reduced rack, I went a bit crazy. I use those soft deli squares for home made pizza's for me and OH and usually they are £1.19, sometimes on offer at £1. These were reduced to 25p! I saw 2 packs so took them, then rummaged a little bit and unwravvelled another 7 packets, so got them too. It may seem greedy but for almost 5 packets for the price of one normally, and the amount I use, I couldn't say no. Plus, I know that I will use them so they won't get wasted whereas some people would buy them, put them on the side, and they'll be mouldy in a day or so.

What a greedy pig! I'd never take the lot, if anything I usually take no more than 3 max, as I've got a bargain & I want everyone else to have one too.
  • We have a lovely man in my local Morrisons who hands out the reductions to people as he does them. If some-one is being greedy he passes it over their head to the "little old lady" hovering at the back. :T

One time there were only three of us there and we each asked the others if they wanted an item, so I swapped my bargain chicken for one of the other ladies bargain pork as she said her family did not like pork. It was very civilized and pleasurable. :)

Sometimes I give up if every-one is grabbing, and once in Sainsburys left the area as a big row had started when a "lady"! stopped any one picking out any of the reduced meat saying it was all hers, she was just trying to get it into her trolley. As most items were about 50p including joints you can understand that other people were not happy. You could hear the commotion at the other end of the store..

I do like my bargains, in fact my sister asked if I ever ate anything that wasn't reduced :rotfl: However I do like to think I am polite and would share with others.

Yeah, I'm a 'greedy pig'. I took all of them as, like I said, I use them a lot. And at 1/5 of the price, why not? I was the only one there, so it wasn't like I was pushing people out of the way for it.

And I think its rude to just call me that without even knowing me! Why shouldn't I take the oppertunity? I'm saving for my wedding and house move, and every penny helps.

I always check the whoopsie section but I must admit I do give up if there are too many people there - cant be doing with the pushing and shoving.
I never tend to have much room in the freezer so can usually only fit in one or two things anyway. i do check the cold cuts for treats for the cats - people really do buy this stuff for their pets lol

as for the op if there was a pile of chicken breasts i would only take a couple out of politeness, that guy was so rude to be saying that while he grabbed so many.

They didn't quote your post so might have been responding to the OP about the guy who took 8.
  • when i went to morrisons today, the reduced items they do at the deli were all kept behind the screen and you had to ask for them
not sure if i like this idea, i managed to get what i wanted .... it was quiet around the deli , but i dont think anyone had realised what they had done .... when people cotton on i think itll be virtually impossible to get anything you wont be able to get near there..

on the plus side , when i went to the meat reduced section noone was looking at that either (people mustve been busy buying their newyears booze) got bacon 59p a pack reduced from £2.29 :) i took the 3 packs they had, so cant say i was depriving anyone else, cos they wernt there lol

    xx
