 a six pack of fairy washing up liquid from my hubby!
That would go with the box of liquitabs my son bought me when he first went to university. He thought they were "awesome" and when I said they were too expensive to use for the amount of washing I do he bought me some for Christmas. That is his practical nature coming out but I could have thought of better Christmas presents.:rotfl:
This year I had a plant. I ordered it myself and then told the boys what "they had bought me." far safer!0 -
A hoover - when I was 19
I did need a hoover, but at the time I thought I was too young to be given domestic appliances as gifts...!

When it spilled out of the wrapping we didn't know what it was: a pan-shaped wooden board, with 5 assorted varnished bread-buns, which had been stuck to it.
We worked out that she'd MADE it as a thing to hang up in the kitchen- a bread-board decorated with fake bread! And I really think she thought I'd like it. We doubted that you could buy a thing like that.
Great debate ensued about whether it should go in the recycling bin or the ordinary bin...!
(a marginally better gift than last year's orange satin full-length underskirt - does anyone wear underskirts? - size 20 - I'm a 14.)0 -
Grandmother-in-law regifted me an enormous pair of off-white baggy knickers which wouldn't have looked out of place on a flag pole, along with a cast-off cardigan that was so big I could wrap it around myself twice. Delightful.0

When I was about nine my sister gave me a box of cotton wool balls which she then went on and used.
What a nine year old would do with cotton wool balls is a mystery to me :think:0
