    I hope you don't mind if I slightly hijack the thread to tell you about my worst christmas card this year.... because it really is a humdinger....
    Me and my OH have been together for over 3 blissful years now, and live in the house that I have owned since before we met.
    He sees quite a bit of his uncle, however the uncles OH wrote the cards this year. Oh dear!
    She got the address right, but sent it to my OH and the wife he divorced nearly 4 years ago.... after she caused a big family scandal by running off with a bloke old enough to be her grandad.... not just on the printed label on the front but handwritten inside the card too!!!
    Guess who I didn't give a present to this year???
    :mad:
  • Wow, some people have some really mean relations, don't they? Especially the meat hamper for the vegetation! As well as all the really weird and thoughtless gifts!

    I feel really lucky in that I don't think I've ever had anything I couldn't use or at least re-gift.

    This year my dad bought my mum a venetian blind cleaner as a joke present but a few years ago my step gran gave my dad a used ashtray with ash still in it. Nice or what. Worst present ive ever had was a hideous clown necklace from my grandad

  • Not really sure if this counts as the thought was there... Years ago I received a box of bath stuff, one of those cheap and nasty boxes you buy from a pound shop. I'm really, really fussy on what cosmetics I use and this smelt so awful, even through the box that I'd never use it even if I wasn't fussy. I made appreciative noises though, like you do and out of politeness when asked I said I liked using it but sadly had run out (it had gone to the charity shop straight away).

    The next year I got exactly the same box because 'they knew I liked it'. And again the following year, and again the next year. That year I had to go into their spare room to get something and while I was poking about I stumbled accross a big box which smelled familiar... on closer inspection I found they'd stocked up on my box of smellies! There must have been about 20 boxes of the same pack!

    I later found out that they thought I really liked it so had bought the shop out so that they wouldn't disappoint me in the future. I think they've got about another 10 years of stock left now. The thing is, it smelt bad before but now it smells so bad I can't even charity shop it and in the last box the bath crystals look like they've started to go mouldy.

    It's very sweet of them but I hope they didn't spend much on it and I feel so guilty!
    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: bless them!

  • I got a couple of presents that looked like they had come from a car boot - a set of placemats and a photo album that contained greetings cards so I wouldn't forget birthdays.
    I have to say the presents made me feel really upset particularly as they came from my parents.
  • I was really lucky had some beautful presents but the only one i recieved that is not horrible just useless if that makes sense is a red and gold china box in a shape of a handbag. Bought from my mother in law as a extra pressie for me, ( she had already gave us vouchers as we are doing up the house so has gone towards that) Its still sat on the bottom of my stairs feeling sorry for itself, really dont know what i am going to do with it, Its unsellable as its not the prettiest of things and i would never ever repack it for next year lol, May just stick it in the upstairs cupboard to hold bits and bobs out of the way!
