I've put the master list so far on the original first post, in red."A strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others" Barnyard the children's film.

When you live somewhere remote and going to the shops means taking the car out then it makes sense. Plus we can't trawl the shops at all hours looking for a whoopsies so we miss out there. I store a lot but I want more !0

This isn't quite a years worth, more like a couple of weeks/ 1 month worth, 'baby steps'.
I bought the big jar of Tesco Classic Coffee that we drink. Worked out at 95p/100g rather than £1.20/100g this should last a good month.
A double box of Paxo at 78p rather than 2 at 40p. Might not do that again, its hardly worth it.
A bigger box of cerial, Tesco's Fruit and Fibre at £1.59 (750g) rather than £1.24 (500g) for the smaller box.
I would normally have bought another box next week, so now won't have to. :T0 -
i bought 5 years worth of furniture polish when I moved into this house - a single can has lasted me all that time :rotfl::rotfl:People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I looked in my cupboard the other day and realised I had 15 tins of chopped tomatoes bought when on offer at 26p God knows how much they are now it was only August when I bought them.My friend got me 18 loo rolls for £4.00 last week from her local shop.In exchange I get her what ever veggies are on the offer at Aldi's as her local one has closed down in Bexleyheath. She is my DDs ma-in-law so when DD goes to see her at weekends she carries my stuff up to her and brings the stuff she gets for me back down to Kent so there is no delivery costs:) no doubt about it us old ladies can still work out a bargain or two

Morrisons I go every fortnight now. Probably takes 10 to 15 minutes to update spreadsheet.
I might be taking things a bit too far with my analysing. I now know I spent £14.58 buying 64 rolls of toilet tissue in 2011. This works out at 20,800 sheets (un-separated) covering an area of 260.7 sq metres. There are different sizes depending on shop. Once a spreadsheet is set up it takes only a few seconds to update.
EDIT : The shopping spreadsheet only contains the following headings - it's not too detailed.
Shop | Date | Quantity | Description | Price | Amount
After 10 years of using Excel I have found out about Tables so filtering things is a piece of cake now.
EDIT 2 : Just gone and distorted the figures a bit by buying 18 rolls (£4) from Farmfoods. I used to buy 4 rolls at a time costing £2. Maybe I'll need to do a stock-take at 31st December if I want to compare years. The updated figures for (purchased in) 2011 are

I bought a good couple of years worth of baby wipes when they were just 18p in Sainsbury but then 50% off so 9p per pack. Excellent for cleaning along with mucky faces etc, that saved me a lot of money.
Pasta I buy when it's 9p per bag, I have about a years worth of that too. Keeping an eye out for glitches, serious reductions and coupons, I have saved a huge amount of money by using coupons simply by emailing a company and telling them how pleased I am with their product!
Buying sweets and biscuits when they are seasonal and past i.e festive faces a pack of 18 are currently 25p per pack. I bought 5 packs and my mum bought 2 for my little one, that's biscuits stocked up for months. Same with small gingerbread men etc.
I never buy anything full price, especially branded. Everything I buy is smartprice except when branded because equivalent or cheaper to purchase.
I could talk about stockpiles all day!Credit Card: £796 Left/£900 October 2011 :eek:Store Card: £100 October 2011

As this is more about shopping than Old Style, I'll move this to the Groceries Board
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
