Buy a years worth

I searched but couldn't find anything.
I was thinking of the pantry system a lot of us use. I have enough tuna and beans etc to do a year (I calculated roughly how many tins I'd need and got them on offer, at last years prices, something I read about on here
).
So I was wondering what else could\would you buy to last a year (or a good few months)? And that this would save me money as I wouldn't be popping into the shop for them and picking up other bits while there.
My thoughts were to get some stuff so generally I just need to buy food when shopping.
Can anyone think of other stuff?
The list so far (I've put in general stuff like food or cleaning products because everyone buys different things)

Spices
Sauces (red/brown)
Pet food
Birthday cards
Bin bags
Toothpaste and toothbrushes
Bin bags
Tin foil/clingfilm
Shampoo and soap
Washing up liquid
Toilet roll
Cloths/sponges

Hi,
Its a good idea and something I am considering, but not a years worth for me, more like a months worth.
For instance, I work our shopping money on a weekly basis and buy, say one bottle of Fairy or 4 loo rolls as and when needed. (Loo rolls 4 a week) But in the case of Fairy I could buy two of the bigger bottles and 16 loo rolls for less than the individual price per week.
Hope that makes sense
I'd be interested in more ideas as well.0 -
I have enough toothpaste for 3-4 years, lol, oral B pro expert. It wa phenomenal value at one time, when it was brought out and I got 40 tubes at a time from boots online. I did similar once, when ariel 30 came out and that has lasted 7 years so far and I am just on the last one. Depends how much space you have op, kitchen and loo rolls take up a lot of space. Looking at current prices, it was hugely money saving0

I think i have about 10 years worth of fairy liquid! i got it when it was on offer in Makro and think it will outlive me!

LOL!!! I love these hoarding type threads
I last bought washing powder Sept 2010
When my fav baked beans were on buy 1 get 2 free for the 4x packs, I bought so many I had to be creative with where to store them. Some are still stashed behind the curtain on the landing, some in the shed etc.
Toothpaste - I bought that before the VAT rise... got probably 5 years worth :rotfl:
Loo roll - I did the same - only had to buy some recently as stocks were low!
Its well worth stocking up with as much as you can afford (and have room for) when they are on great offers. Very MSE :money:0 -
me too frugal
very money saving
I forgot, I got a new washing machine, my first ever miele and there was a 20% off voucher for the washing detergents, so I now have a huge stack0 -
What do you do if you noticed that the stuff you've hoarded comes up on an even BETTER offer than the one you bulk-bought it on? :P0

It's a fabulous way to save money. Even if you just buy things now at full price that you've noticed have been increasing rapidly, like tins, whatever it's gone up by by the time you eat it is money you've earnt. If you can get things now on offer then it's even better. For example, if you managed to get something (that you actually use!! very important) for half price now and it goes up by half again in a year, which is less than some things are increasing by now, you invested that original money into your own 200% apr account! Of course it's more susceptible to theft, fire, etc. and you can't invest vast sums, but all of us can afford a duplicate of something on the shopping list this week, and spare a few inches in a cupboard, under a bed, on a shelf, and it snowballs from there0
