I had to buy tinned toms the other week and couldnt believe how much they had gone up, I bought a load when I saw them on offer in the summer and they seem to have doubled in price!!!!
I dont intentionally bulk buy but when I see a good offer then I will buy a load no matter what it is, so one week it could be loo rolls and the next coffee refill bags. I tend to use money that I havent spent from my weekly shopping, I put all this into another purse and then use it for this purpose.£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund0 -
Not particularly moneysaving, but it did occur to me as I was putting birthdays into my new diary that buying the year's birthday cards in one go might save a bit of time, and make it more likely that people would receive them on the right day as no last minute rush to buy.0

I think i have about 10 years worth of fairy liquid! i got it when it was on offer in Makro and think it will outlive me!
Tuna is a really good one - i'd do that.
Talking of Tuna.....what in God's name has happened to the price of *that* recently?!
In Mr S's the other day 4 small cans of John West Tuna were £6.99!_pale_
Luckily, after rooting to the back of the shelf, I did manage to find the last 4 of Sainsbo's own make for £3.50, but how on earth can they justify that price?
I know they are now caught by pole and line which was always going to increase the price, and I accept that, but this has been the case for quite a while, but the prices are only recently decending into stupid territory!
I am not a big horder, although I would like to be, but I have no storage space for everything, sadly.0 -

I have a card stockpile! I found lots of reduced birthday cards in a Paperchase sale a few years ago so bought loads. I also got a free funky pigeon code last summer and had quite a lot of photo cards done in advance for birthdays, Xmas, valentines etc (got them delivered to myself but with the recipients name on the front and the do not open until relevant date).0 -
I tried to do this, but we find if its there we use it faster.
I always have a stockpile of beans, tomato ketchup, tuna, tinned potatoes (for emergencies), carrots, peas, basically any tinned items that are cheap or on offer. Pasta, but we tend to go through this quickly, I buy cheapy rice and use it for rice pudding too.Starting weight 17st 4lb - weight now 15st 2lbs

I buy cards when they are 7 for £1 in my local card shop, also means you can save on postage, I buy stamps when Superdrug have them 20% off, that way you can send them 2nd class as you have them early and make a saving.Thoughts to all. Mrs D.

I've got packets of dried stuff as well Memory Girl, but what are pigeon peas.
A dried legume - quite high in protein, used a lot in Caribbean food .......... not as DS2 thinks .................... seeds to grow pigeons from.
When they are split - they are sold in Indian supermakets as Toor Dal.
They are pretty nutty and tasty though.

I too bulk buy when cheap and store it away in the house. I got stung with basmati rice though as I found some crawlers in it and had to chuck it out. There is a fine balance between bulk buying and overbuying. Toilet roll is ok though (and acts as insulation!)Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

I got a roll of clingfilm from work when I was pregnant with my DS which I have used constantly and is just about at the end now. My son will be 17 years old in March. I really wish I'd got 2 of them now!!:D0
