Don't Throw Food Away Challenge 2012

Hello everyone!
Have been trying my best to follow the mantra of "use it up use it up!" this month and can proudly announce that last night in my fridge there was:
one pepper (which will be used in tonight's meal)
small punnet of blueberries (ditto, for childrens' pudding)
two bottles filled with tap water (I don't buy water but I like to have a bottle I can take out with me to save spending on drinks in town!)
haven't thrown a THING away for about two weeks and before that, only very small amounts of things that I truly couldn't find another use for!!
Think I need to go shopping though!! Happily have just discovered a new Lidl near home so am going tonight!

The chilli, broccoli & cashew salad was gorgeous - so chuffed I saved those chillis from the pizza and the cashews from the other salad, they worked fine. I would never have made such an interesting meal if I hadn't saved them.0

Bad ending to January 2012 - had defrosted some naan bread I found lurking at the bottom of the freezer, half of which so hard as to be inedible even when warmed through. To be fair it was a reduced item and must have been in there for over 3 years...but it's still 24p gone.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Gah! Only 2nd Feb and I have had my first throw out of the month - an onion from an Aldi bag which was rotten in the middle. I think it was 39p for the bag - assuming 6 in there I'll cost at 6p.
Still I should be glad I used up some milk in a yummy rice pudding, and have had a very low spend week.
Finally going to go to the supermarket tomorrow though - we're out of some essentials and I can't really think of an acceptable substitute for toothpaste!! :rotfl:0 -
