Very similar to the Cheesy Bread and butter pudding. I should have just added to that recipe!!
Serves: 4
Prep: 15 minutes
Cook: 40 minutes
Cost:84p per serving
Spread 6 slices of stale bread with 25g softened butter. Halve and layer in a baking dish with 50g diced ham and 6 sliced spring onions
Mix 500ml milk with 3 eggs and some seasoning.
Pour over the bread and scatter with 50g grated cheese and bake at 180c for 40 minutes.
Eat with baked beans and salad or green veg.
Hope you enjoy xx
I just love recipes and these two sound fab Jarus, thank you - I read recipe books more than any other type of book! In fact I take them to bed with me rather than a "normal" book!I dream in food am sure:rotfl:
Love the idea of a savoury bread and pudding - I love marmite, kids not really keen on it, but I think if i do just a teany weeny bit of marmite in it I could probably get away with it - and if not ,oh well more for me:o
On the wastage front - today nothing wasted in fact lots of leftovers used up! Hurrah!

Yeah, me too. Roasties and Yorkshires. The thing is, I do this so often you'd really think I would keep track better by now.

Hi JARUS I would like the monday night rice recipe please.
One more squishy clemantine so another 7p.
The tonight was a variety of left overs from the last three night meals, so the meal I planned for tonightj will go on to next weeks meal plan.
I too have really enjoyed this first months challenge and hope to reduce next months wastage to a pound or less. I like the challenge of being inventive with food to reduce waste.
I have made a leek and potato soup and added the outer leaves and stalk of the cauli to it, something that I would previously have thrown away (hangs head in shame).I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Hey all,
Just wondering if I can pick your brains, I have a load of potatos that are sprouting / past there best. Wondering what the best thing to do with them is. Can I make a load of mash and freeze it? If so what's the best way to defrost / heat it up after? If not has anyone else got any ideas how I can use all these up without chucking them!
Thanks,

Now for my wastage
1 yoghurt 25p- took to work last week and didn't eat, found it in my bag this week!!
1/2 carton soya milk 60p - we have soya milk for when my mum visits. But we usually end up throwing at least have the carton way -
1/2 carton of apple juice 30p- DS split all over the kitchen floor - bless him
6 asparagus spears £1- very wilted.
Expensive: £2.25 added to my 80p = £3.05. Must try harder next month.
On the plus cut open a melon found lurking in the back of my fridge. Expected it might have to go out, but all cut up ready for DS and friend after school.

Yep!
Defrost in the microwave.
It is likely to have a small amount of water run off it as it defrosts. I usually whip it back in - but you're free to pour it off if you wish.
Mash, roasties and wedgies all freeze well.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there.
