Is it because you're a board guide with special magic powers squeaky?
MummyEm you could make a variation on Nigella's yummy clementine cake: http://www.nigella.com/recipes/view/clementine-cake-2559
Don't know if it freezes, but very moist and yummy.
Or if it were me I'd juice them and drink it all (but I'm getting sick of cakes etc following Christmas!).0 -

It will be fine, though if you are worried, make sure you use the breadcrumbs in something that you cook before eating,.I've done quite well today using LO roast chicken, various bits and pieces of veggies made a chickeny thing. Served with jacket spuds and grated cheese. Enjoyed by all of us, even the kids.
Does anyone have suggestions of what to do with softish satsumas? I don't really eat them as they give me heartburn since I was pregnant with DS. The kids normally eat loads but think these haven't been used up as there's just been so many other yummy snack options over Christmas! I have about 8 satsumas, two oranges, and two oranges with no zest on to use up!
I have some freezer space so could freeze but don't know if I'd need to do something with them first ie. cooked in a cake them frozen? I need to make some cake/snacks for the kids lunchboxes so suggestions to use these that way would also be welcome.

I'd peel them and freeze them as individual segments ready to drop in cold drinks instead of ice cubes.
Ended up throwing away the bread & butter pudding as it was till nasty and DS2 now has a tummy bug so I don't want stuff hanging round that he's likely been putting his fingers in... So declaring 25p for that as we'd eaten half the bread and the milk was left over from preschool and would have been thrown away if not stashed in my freezer.
Actually, I did throw away the last of the crispy bits DS2 had brought back from Parents-in-law, but I'm not counting that as I didn't want the crispy stuff in my house in the first place, & I had to throw them away to stop DS2 binging on them  Pesky boy!
Mum had given us a few slices of Christmas cake & we've eaten all that, which gives me a empty ice cream tub, so I've labelled it 'Veg trimmings for stock, and managed to get it into the freezer with today's onion skin and mushroom stalks.
Once it's full, I'll make stock - should I defrost them before turning into stock or just cast into a pan with some water, herbs & a splash of oil?0 -

love these threads and the great advice and support people give. trying very hard to get into the frugal spirit as want to make some serious inroads to my debts this year. Food shopping and waste is a big bug bear for dh and me so looking at being more sensible and less wasteful.
Noticed you mentioned an ice cream tub for stock making - would you mind explaining what/how to save things that i caould use for stock making? i generally just use the carcass or bones with a carrot/onion/celery/bay(from tree in garden) and peppercorn which i just simmer for a while.
you mentioned peelings and i've seen others refer to this but not sure what/how to do. Thanks in advance:)2012 Challenge £1923/£12000Jan GC £BUST/£100 = FEB £0/£1500 -

A day or two past its date in a nice cold fridge you should be fine, mind the same with all dairy products, taste a small amount and it should be obvious it is off right away.0 -
Me again :S Most of an "unusual" fruit that we found in L!dl and decided to try for a treat. Turned out that it was a weird kind of grapefruit which I'm allergic to, so I didn;t try it just in case. DH can't tolerate citrus fruits, it made DD's lips tingly and numb so she didn;t risk any more, and DS didn't like it much (though he does like grapefruit).Waste of about a pound, I think. It was a Pomelo...yuck yuck yuck!0

That just links back to this thread Squeaky
Making a batch of tattie scones (first time trying the recipe) to use up a load of poatoes that went past their best two days ago, just carrots to tackle now. Going to make carrot and coriander soup if I can get an onion from the shop - none in yesterday - but otherwise is it ok to just chop and freeze them if I can't make them into something else?February Grocery Challenge - £100.87/£180February Don't Throw Food Away Challenge - £0.60/£1.500 -
