    Hi Majjak,

Please can you alter my amount saved to £34.95 :j Also, could you change me to *Late July, please. I don't think I've missed anything :o this is seeming abit to easy :D famous last words!!!

To whoever decides these things, I'd like the challenge to be moved back to OS as well. Its pretty OS to save up for your fortnight away, (or 4 days in my case :D ), as it has been said.

Also, discussing the various methods to save a few pennies as well, as per the links added in this thread.
Bulk buying for one which I've done this week to save a few £'s

    * Depending on work situation of course, but either way I shall still try my best to save the dosh, it will come in handy.

All done for you Linda, you'll be at your target before you know it !

Glad everyone feels the same about OS board, I've PM'd a board guide so hopefully we'll be back there soon. I've also changed the title of the thread so it's more 'OS' rather than 'savings' orientated.

I'll get the links updated over the next few days, may have to hop on and do a bit here and there as I've got visitors until just after the New Year.

Hi, A very nice idea for a challenge. I will not be joining as only have 3 months to go before we go to Vegas so I will be spending time to research for that but I will definitely be looking at this thread with interest for our next holiday (though don't know where yet)

Good Luck and Happy New Year

Vegas ! How lovely, make sure you pop back and tell us all what a fab holiday you had.

I managed to get a few reduced bits in Sainsburys last night so the freezer is stocking up nicely. I've joined the grocery thread for Janjuary and whatever I come in under budget will go towards the holiday fund. So, the more I get now, the more chance of me coming in under target :D

Well done, it's all a great start! Don't forget to bulk out your finds with lentils and veg for a healthy way to save money :D

My food shopping came under 1p this week...! LOL some people call it luck... I call it skill :p

Well the bike is at £16 already and it ends Sat 8pm! I am so pleased it'll be getting me some money! I'm getting all excited about it... £34 to go for Roo's passport!

Just remembered... I better check the dates on all the other passports in the house...

Edit: Bike is now at £21, and I told DH and he suddenly got the eBay bug and just gave me a watch to sell. He got it free and it could sell quite well...! Hehe! Wonder what else we'll find...
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

majaak - would you mind telling me how many people will be going on your disney hol and if you'd be stopping at a disney hotel or not? We also want to go somewhere between the date you've mentioned and before Sept 2014 (due to DD starting Secondary school). We last went in 2005 courtesy of a sharesave and DD was under 3 so we didn't have to buy theme park tickets for her, so I can't remember how much anything was or what it will likely cost now.

    Hi Zippy

I'm a bit confused by the 'move' of this thread - considering that we are saving using old style methods and using the old style boards for help, I would have thought that it was the ideal place for this challenge? I fear we will be lost in the depths if we stay here :(.

Is there any chance you could move us back, pretty please? :D

If I remember correctly it was MSE Andrea who asked that such savings threads be moved to this board and as its quite a quiet board you won't be lost whereas you are more likely to be lost in the myriad of new threads on OS.

As this is a savings challenge it belongs in the savings board. Please do not hesitate to contact the team if you have any issues with this. Their email is in my signature.

Hmmm this could be a long reply ! :rotfl:

There are 6 of us and we went in October just gone. We stayed on international drive, room only (food is so cheap that you're better off eating out - the all you can eat buffets prove very good value at around $5-8 per head). We went to all the parks, water parks, swam with the dolphins and did the mickeys not so scary halloween party plus the adult halloween horrors night . We got taxi's to most places, used the I-trolley for things locally.

Total cost per person worked out at about £1,800 for everything. Then we had spending money, bearing in mind we did have a bit of a blow out :o, bought lots of souveneirs back and ate at some lovely places, I took $5000 dollars and came back with just under $700. It was our first time there so we had no idea about how much to take. The spending included the food for 6 of us, breakfast, lunches and dinners. It was my sons birthday while we were out there too so we did spend some $$$ on presents plus we bought xmas presents for relatives too.

I'm sure you could do it much cheaper though but if you want to do all the parks I think you're probably looking at £1,500 each. It may be cheaper in April though as Halloween week is hugely popular.

I hope that helps a bit ! I'll give you a nod once I start to look 'properly' ;)
