Thought I would share this with you all. I have a magazine delivered called Easy Food (the original budget recipe magazine) and it is available for £10 Mr T vouchers that covers an annual subscription.

There are loads of budget recipes, they give you loads of ideas for entertaining and have a great section each time on special diets such as diabetic, coeliac, egg free, high fibre etc.

I have 2 recipes which may be of interest especially to Tigerfeet2006 and Long Tall Sally for gluten-free, egg-free and diary-free banana bread and flourless chocolate raspberry cake. If you want the recipes just let me know.

    Tracey

Thanks Tracey, new recipes are always gratefully recieved

  • Hi all, well had to give up on reading all the posts, gawd its gone mad. Good luck to the ladies who have quit smoking, meg & aberdeen (i think), sorry if thats wrong). I quit, having been a 30 a day smoker, 12 years ago, and would NEVER go near a cigarette, it really does get better. I can highly recommend a book called you can stop smoking by Alan Carr, it really works. I have only spent £1.09 this month, on milk, will update sig.
  • Just popping in quickly to post and update signature before i forget.

Had a lot going on in the last couple of days and it hasnt been good, so havent had a chance to catch up on posts or been on to update.

Have spent £71.31 already in a couple of spends. However my OH and I are on leave so we have gone a bit mad on spends, but should get it under control over the next couple of weeks. Hubby is back to work next week so will be on my own during the week, will start to look at meal planning, especially as i work most days so need to be more organised. If i dont plan or take food out of the freezer then i tend not to eat or go for the cereal option.

Will have a proper catch up on the thread in the next few days, and also look through the recipes to see what i can throw together with food stuffs i already have in.

Hope everyone is well, and having a good start to the new year.

I would love to see the banana bread recipe. My usual one has milk so I can't eat it. Not entirely a bad thing, but it would be nice to indulge sometimes! :j

This is my usual Banana Bread recipe

75g (3 oz) butter or margarine
    175g (6 oz) sugar
    2 eggs, beaten
    450g (1 lb) bananas, mashed
200g (7 oz) gluten free flour
    1/4 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
110g (4 oz) chopped mixed nuts

    1.
Grease and line a 2 lb loaf tin.
    2.
    Cream the butter and sugar.
    3.
Add eggs a one at a time, beating between each one.
    4.
    Add bananas and beat again.
    5.
Stir in the flour, bicarbonate of soda and nuts.
    6.
Put in a greased tin and bakefor about 1 and 1/4 hours at 180 C / Gas 4 until well risen and firm. Turn out onto a wire rack to cool.

Had to do a shop as needed a few bits. Went to Merry Hill as there is a sports shop , needed a swimming cap for my 9 year old as she starts that at school next week. Bargain was £4.99 down to £1.99 ;) Went into Poundland and the Mr A's there for some onion sets and lentils (respectively)
Spent £4 in Poundland on 2 FB pies for the store cupboard and 2 packs of goodies for packed lunches. Got my onions too but not counted in the GC.
£6.10 in Mr A's ..lentils were £1.10 going to have a shop around to see if I can get them cheaper.
Then stopped at Lidl on the way home for a bigger shop , sack of potatoes, nappies, milk, toilet rolls etc and spent £20.09 there.

That will be my shopping now till the 15th Jan apart from maybe 4 pints of milk towards end of next week.

    Have updated my total.
    Thanks DC xx

Yep - I won't go into detail, but I could reinact that moment a trillion times and it wouldn't happen again.
Has taken me most of today trawling the Internet for the cheapest place to buy one, £17.95 was the cheapest as I also get some cashback. Never mind! Onwards and upwards I suppose, where's the wine??
