I've managed to persuade Mr F that we don't need pizza for tea - we're having chicken chargrills and tattie waffles instead. It's no healthier but we'll be £20 better off :D

  • Hi all, hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. I'm back to the grindstone today so back to trying to keep my food spending down. OH is getting really on board and wants to try and challenge ourselves to only eating from whoopsies one week...that might make for some interesting combinations:D. Please put me down for £200 which will run from 31st to the 31st. Hopefully keeping to one shop a week and eating as much fresh stuff as possible and menu planning again. I have HFW veg book now and am going to try some things from this.I am buying things in for set meals which can be made which ever night suits depending on what everyone is doing. I am finding my DD eats alot when there are things she can just grab from the fridge so when all the xmas treats are gone I won't be replenishing.

I'd love to join, but dont think i'll bother as i have joined quite a few of the grocery challenges but have ony managed to stay within budget once :(

Entirely up to you of course and I do understand where you are coming from as I rarely achieve my target as you can see from signature :oand last month in particular, (well for November's target) I really felt like throwing in the towel! However, when I pick myself up & think about it a bit more, I think well, my spending would probably be even worse if I didn't keep track of it, I am a lot more aware nowadays of the price that things can be got at so will rarely pay much over that price and this board, plus others, keeps me informed of where there are real bargains from glitches etc to be had. Besides I enjoy reading other people's posts and they do keep me on track a bit, even if I do still have a long way to go!

Why not give it a go for a month or two? The people on here are very friendly and there is lots of good advice and who knows, it may even help you reduce your spends even if you don't actually meet your target? Come, come, come!
