I really failed again in Dec I dont know what it is, all that advertising? Xmas cheer? or what - anyway Im going to put a yearly total down of 1200 which includes food, toileteries, cleaning products and fuel for car theres only me with the occasional feeding visit from DD's so I should be able to do this. My year will start from this Friday as its payday and run for the year, the total of 10600 in my sig includes this amount so I will amend sig and do a yearly grocery budget, during the next few weeks Im hoping only to spend on fruit, veg and milk (Imake my own bread, cakes and biscuits) so Im hoping not to spend very much as I have enough in to feed an army at the moment!
Happy shopping and dont be tempted to buy stuff you done need like I have!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone I am back for a day to my own house before gadding off again for New Year.I would like to be put down for £100.00 for January as I have managed to get through December with a little bit left over to go into the holiday kitty for the grandchildren's ice creams.Almost new year and my cupboards are still fairly full along with my freezer so I am hoping for another belt-tightening month as the surplus goes towards our August holiday.Happy new Year to one and all in case I don't get back online before then
Cheers fellow frugalist's

Hi all. Thank you to everyone who keeps this thread running. Good luck in 2012 to all. May your budgets never run over! I am going for £370 this month please. I hope to come in under based on good left overs and good planning but I want to give myself a margin so that I don't start the year on the wrong foot. I am going to;
have a complete stocktake of the freezer, fridge and cupboards and plan out roughly what we will eat this month so that we use up the stuff that needs using,
menu plan in detail for each week,
use a shopping comparison website before I go to the supermarkets,
restrict shopping to no more than twice a week,
use the local market for fruit, veg and fish (their stuff is so much better than supermarkets and cheaper too). The exercise walking there will do me good,
cook a veggie main meal once a week,
be reasonably flexible so that I can pick up bargains if there are any around,
try one new recipe from this site or similar each week,
do a packed lunch for OH a couple of times a week,
post my spends regularly.
Here goes - and good luck again to all0 -
I'm not earning at all at the moment, so am desperate to get my outgoings down as far as possible.
Therefore my £40 a week shopping budget is being reduced to £35 a week and as January is a 5 weekend month for me (23 December to 24 January) that gives me a monthly budget for January of £175.
My first shop was the Christmas dinner shop, and that came to £52. so already I am way over budget, and it means I have to try and get my shopping for £30 a week for the rest of the month.
This is for one person, 2 cats, one dog, and all the cleaning detergents, etc. (I did have a guest for Christmas who didn't offer once to contribute - either financially or help with the dinner ... and he is now history.)spendy/she/her ***DEBT-FREE DATE: 11 NOVEMBER 2022!*** Highest debt: £35k (2006) MY WINS: £3,541 CASH; £149 Specsavers voucher; free eye test; goody bag from Scottish Book Trust; tickets to Grand Designs Live; 2-year access to Feel Amazing App (worth £100); Home Improvement & Renovation Show tickets; £50 to spend on chocolate; Harlem Globetrotters tickets; Jesus Christ Superstar tickets + 2 t-shirts; Guardians of the Galaxy goody bag; Birmingham City v Barnsley FC tickets; Marillion tickets; Dancing on Ice tickets; Barnsley FC v Millwall tickets0 -
Afternoon all,
Not declared for December yet as there are still a few cents left, plan on spending them before 31st.
Thanks to everyone involved in organising this thread....too many to mention at this stage, but it is appreciated.
For January I plan on spending no more than €180, there will be lots of soup on offer, even if OH is not that keen....tough!!

Can I join back in for the new year got a bit sidetracked nearer the end of the year. dread to think what I have spent during this month.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas and I will go with £400 for january running from the 1st - 31st. Good luck everyone.0 -
Please can I be put down for £200
I have put down £200 but I am hoping it will be less.
I am quiet proud of myself in the past year cutting my food spending (although it could have been better, but could have been a lot worse) a lot of it is due to these boards so a big thank you to all who contribute their ideas.
I had no food waste this Christmas and I got lots of compliments from my family as to the food I served. This was not due to me being extravagant but thinking of what and how to use the food I had in.
I had a look round M and S and sains at their posh food to get some ideas and made my own. I think it shows just how overpriced ready made food is.
My example is sains do a smoked mackerel and rocket fishcake £1.99 for two. I made loads of them from left over mash, rocket and
a half pack of smoked mackerel from Aldi. (i made pate with the other half of the packet).
Happy new year to all x0 -
Please can I join, I have not done a GC before so no idea where to start my budget! I have decided to start it at £200 a month. This is for me, hubby and a big dog! I am 4 months pregnant so need to buy a lot of fresh fruit/veg.
We have already bought out of this months paycheck, so wont be a completely true account.I will do a check on cupboards etc and try and do a plan for meals. I will go and check out the recipes at the start of the thread too.
I do like the idea of a seperate purse too!
Good luck everybody x

I remember being in this position this time last year, I fell by the wayside all too quickly. I'd like to write off 2011 as quickly as possible, it's not been a very good year.
I'm raring to get on with 2012, this will definitely be my year to get everything sorted. With that in mind I'd like to be put down for £200 to include everything for me, ds and dd. It could be a lot cheaper than this but ds is a fussy eater and will never eat what me and dd eat, I'm following the slimming world diet so can't eat what ds eats.
I will start this challenge on 1st and finish on 31st. Good luck everyone x:j Here's to 2013, may it bring Happiness to all :j0
