Change the day to suit your "big shop" day - so if it's Thursday there's only 4 in January. Then check cumulatively - eg by the end of March 2012 you would have a target of 13/52 of annual budget to measure actual spend against.rising_from_the_ashes wrote: »I do like the dividing it out option you've mentioned so will have a think / play around with that tomorrow

I'm back:) .... I've decided to keep it very simple and go for an equal % split for each month.
I did have a play around with splitting it weekly but I shop either on a Weds or a Sat and it was getting too complicated as different numbers of each some months! (I'm afraid the daily one is a bit beyond me atm:o).
I'm also so used to working to monthly figures, I know I'd be a bit lost (probably by around Feb:rotfl:).
Obviously there will be over & underspends but it has to be better than the way I have been doing it - as if I had a big overspend in a "stocking up" month, I never quite managed to get the next month's adjusted to make up for it:o:o:o
Hopefully this way, it'll balance out - I'm intending to put any underspends into a pot from my bank account and use these to help with the overspend months:)
Anyway, will see how it goes this way .....:)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Hi, please may I join? I'd like to say £250 but I'll add £20 to that as it's my Birthday this month and it's my first go so it would probably be a good idea not to be too strict then I can aim for £250 the following week. So £270 for me please.

Hi
I would love to do this challenge. I'm not sure how much my normal monthly spend is as I do a cash and carry run once a month or so and then top up with fressh stuff in between. If I had to guess I'd say I'm spending £450 a month.... for four adults. (two very fussy!)
I think I would like to see if I can manage on £300 in January and paying for it all in cash sounds ideal to keep me focussed - its too easy to hand over the card.
