debbie - sorry to hear about your colleague. And good for you, we all deserve a treat once in a while and £2 is a great investment on the trousers that were obviously meant for you xx

Even a couple of the quite disabled kids at school noticed I was having a freedom day... Ohh you have a new skirt!! I was declared to look smart and very teacherly, before another lad faceplanted me and covered me in drool. Maybe that is his way of saying I like that purple top =)

Hey guys, sorry I've come for a bit of a rant....what IS going on with the sizing of these skinny coloured jeans  Now, I generally know what size trouser / jean to go for depending on which store, FCUK for instance I'm a 6, Mango an 8, A&F a 0. I'm pretty sure that despite a slighty over indulgence on the Quality Street front at Xmas, I haven't gained a vast amount of weight as the trousers / jeans in my wardrobe still fit me in exactly the same way they did previously (ok a few have been cleared out that I had about 10yrs ago where they might be a little 'snug' :o)

However, on my quest for some coloured skinny jeans I have found that both a size 8 in Primarni and Matalan are way way way too small and even a 10 is a tight fit. Yet in Zara - 8 fits no problem  WHO is doing this sizing and why on earth is this style of jean varying so much?

I'm one of the larger sisterhood - but I also find that Primarni's skinny jeans are very small. I know my legs are fairly chunky, however, you'd have to be disproportionately slim for some pairs to fit.

  • First clothes spend of the year - £12 on tights as mine all have holes in them. Will be throwing out all the old ones today!

    De-lurking to comment!!!

Make sure you check if the jeans are skinny or super skinny as I find I'm an 18 in super skinny and 16 in skinny.

Hope this is of use X
  • First trip to a shopping centre this year and I bought.... nothing! I stuck entirely to buying bits for my SIL's baby and mother's day cards which is what I went for. This is a major acheivement as in my pre MSE days I would have decided I 'needed' new something.

Also its been a bit warmer so a freedom day for my denim mini... worn with leggings and boots but still a skirt :)

    Hi Everybody,

Still no spends for me and yesterday I freed a pink Jane N*rman off the shoulder jumper that I haven't worn since pre Sept 2008.

I'm really enjoying the freeing of clothing that I haven't worn for some time, I can keep this going for ages and people will think I've got a whole new wardrobe :)

No spends for me to declare as yet - will be nipping into town this morning but only for a mothers day gift. I will try to be restrained!

Well done everybody on your bargainous purchases and freedom days! I feel really proud of myself so far as without this challenge I certainly would have spent more than £80 (and possibly that amount *may* have gone on one item of clothing .... dear oh dear... my mindset is definately changing and my first thought is not now 'I need to buy something new for x, y, z' it is in fact 'ooh lets look through the wardrobe and see what treasures there are!'

    Enjoy a lazy Sunday!

    Hi Lula-Hula,

Having taken early retirement with a reasonable wardrobe of clothing, I’ve managed the last 3 years on just under £150 total – I just seem to have got out of the habit of spending on clothing (which is good).

Best buy – brand new suede trimmed cardigan for £3 in our local OXFAM :j

Anyway, for this year’s challenge, please put me down for £150 + Vouchers.

Hopefully should be doable as I’ve got £110 in House Of Fraser vouchers (via Consumer Pulse) and £50 for M&S (courtesy of my very lovely sister at Christmas :xmassmile).

    Thus far in 2012 - £0.

    Hudswell,

I do apologise for having missed your initial request to join up :o I shall add you right now !
