I haven't bought any clothes apart from my first spend, but i reserved a half price babyliss wave envy from wilkos to pick up this friday, not sure whether to put this down as clothes spending or not?
I know technically it's not clothes, but it's a non essential item. I think since i don't have a 'beauty and hair appliances' budget i should put it in clothes, but that means february's £20 is gone  £40/ £240 spent for this year :eek::eek:0 -
Hi Lula-Hula,
Having taken early retirement with a reasonable wardrobe of clothing, I’ve managed the last 3 years on just under £150 total – I just seem to have got out of the habit of spending on clothing (which is good).
Best buy – brand new suede trimmed cardigan for £3 in our local OXFAM :j
Anyway, for this year’s challenge, please put me down for £150 + Vouchers.
Hopefully should be doable as I’ve got £110 in House Of Fraser vouchers (via Consumer Pulse) and £50 for M&S (courtesy of my very lovely sister at Christmas :xmassmile).
Thus far in 2012 - £0.
May contain nuts. Your mileage may vary. Batteries not included. Thanks to all posters

No spends for me yet :j

AAAAAgh, buckled already. The lure of the La Redout wool coat on sale for an amazing £3.50 in scope and an a brand new cowl neck white top at a whopping £2.50 was my down fall.
It could have been so much worse.
Glad to see everyone is keeping the flame burning.
I am now back on the wagon.
Have a great day all

Ah well i havent lasted long on the no spend ! but i guess i am learning a vital lesson - to stay away from clothes shops! as I've spent a third of my budget already!
Went in to buy some essential under garments and ended up picking up 2 new tops which i did not really need. Anyways they were cheap so i guess it will be a saving in the long run but it has made me realise to either write a list and stick to it or avoid clothes shops. They are just so inviting!!! I also needed a new pair of trainers and they were 70% off in the sale so succumbed to those too. So I have spent a grand total of £49.99 on a pair of nike trainers, sports bra and underwear set, and two tops - one casual and one for going out.
On the positive side though - I have reorganised my wardrobe so I can see what clothes I have (in the hope i dont buy things unnecessarily) and I have put my shoes into order and realised i have some lovely ones i hardly wear so a few freedom days for those.
i have already managed to have some freedom days for clothes too and that felt really good, so I hope to spend more time teaming outfits together and mixing and matching
But all in all - i am now starkly aware how much i probably overspend on clothes as that amount was spent in only one trip and is a third of my budget - i guess i've never even counted up how much i normally do spend on clothes.
I have managed not to spend on accessories at all which is good considering im a handbag freak
You are all doing so well and reading your posts has encouraged me to get back on track now that i have everything i truly need - i feel a little bit guilty about the two tops but lesson learned stay away from sales as you just buy stuff you don't need just becuz its cheap!
good luck all and keep up the good work0 -
Hi,
I am following this thread daily and love it! Am tempted to join, but not sure how much to budget for a year! Already spent £33 on a pair of boots (still in their box)!
Any advice on what is a realistic budget? Also what is included in this?
I'm loving the idea of freedom days and think i need a date with my wardrobe to sort through it all!

Thank you Lula for running this thread again, and for adding me. Yeah, I was here before and year 1 I did ok actually, last year was a complete disaster and I bought loads of clothes I didn't need and half of which haven't even been worn. I was away from MSE for a while (Facebook and silly games took over), however I'm back on to MSE now and am really really really going to try and stick to the £100 for the year. Thanks again.0

Today I have bought from our charity shop rail sale a fab leather jacket for the princely sum of £1.00-as I found the pound in my hand bag as a bit of luck do I count this as bought out of my clothing allowance or as a special one off (I have checked through all my bags now and there are no more £1.00 coins sadly!)lucky buy? Hmmmmm ponder ,what do think? I have counted it as a NSD as I didn't open my purse!"Sealed Pot challenge" member No 1099 2011/£26.00:j

I've enjoyed this thread the last 2 years and am going to be reading along as per usual, but still not taking part...I am selling clothes off on eBay and carefully considering purchases but I won't be taking part as I work in a job where I literally HAVE to wear current season clothing, and I plan on getting a new job which will require some new workwear if it materalises, plus I have some other plans which will involve a bit of shopping, ie going out in the evening and not wearing my scuffed ballerina shoes from work and getting some pretty shoes for once as I genuinely own NONE!!0
