Still no spends for me to declare, I was out with family today and did tell my mum I was doing this challenge, told her my budget / target and she :rotfl:.... oh dear I think I might buy more than I realised :o

Aww when i told my coursemates and flatmate they laughed it off too, but you can do it if you're focussed enough! Personally i'll be pleased with myself even if i only last half the year without going over budget (£240):j

I will then gladly avoid the shops for at least three months to try and nurse my finances back to health and save some of my budget for later in the year!

    Same here!

  • Can I join you? It'll be tough because my wardrobe is not looking good but we have loads of charity shops nearby, I own a sewing machine and this christmas received everything I need to start knitting. In fact, this might be just what I need to get out of my style slump!!

I have two girls so I plan to make a lot of their summer clothes and have a big pile of hand-me-downs. The eldest starts school this year so I don't think I'll include that expense! I won't include the OH either as he's picky about clothes.
I'll put myself and the girls down for £250 as I am in need of a lot of essentials, underwear, footwear etc.
This is great as I'm already thinking about what I'll be able to make rather than feeling down about what I can't afford!

Looking forward to catching up on all the previous posts and getting lots of tips and inspiration! x

Aaargh! Fell from grace big time & bought myself a pair of warm, comfy, practical boots in Clarks sale for £39.99... In my defence, I do own a reasonable pair of winter boots, but I can't wear them at the moment or for the foreseeable future; I've injured my ankle (falling down a rabbit hole) and the zip on my boots just cuts into the damaged bit really painfully after a bit, even with a bandage on. These new ones are pull-on ankle length with no zip to buckle & rub - nice & soft. I'll just have to wait until the ankle's better before I can wear the others again, but in the meantime my feet were like blocks of ice at work, which has a damp & icy concrete floor under a thin layer of polyprop tiles. Ah well, I don't need very much else, so hopefully will manage to stick to target over the course of the year...

    ..........................................
  • I've bought myself a pair of slippers. Not declaring them as a clothing spend though as they are to replace my slippers whose soles fell apart a few days ago. :( Also slippers aren't my weakness. :A it's actual clothes I need to stop buying.

I wondered why my feet felt weird the other day, though, then realised I was shedding pieces of the sole down the stairs! :D Cats thought it was a new game!

My new slippers were 1/2 price in accessorize and are warmer and snugger than the old ones and have hopefully got a lot of life in them!;)

I have some small spends to declare :)

£4 on a pair of diamontee earrings from Debenhams should have been £10
£17.55 on a tummy control swimming costume from Monsoon, I saw it on the rack and was drawn to it, i thought it was going to be too expensive, then I saw it in the sale and decided to go for it :) I only have one swimming costume, and although i dont swim (bleached hair hehe) i felt I needed another one on hol last time :) Should have been i think £40, id never spend that much on a costume :)
Also - debating my monsoon dress at £16.50 - doesnt fit great yet, but i need to decide whether ill love it in the summer, i got until tomorrow to decide lol.

    So current total: £47.05

Quite impressive for me really, i'd have brought loads more in the past..

Decided to also save the money my OH gave me and treat myself next month when more of the new season stuff comes in :)

On another note - i went into boots today, brought two birthday pressies and my Mums mothers day pressie out of the half price sale, theres no markings to say its xmas :D spent £24.50 instead of £49 so pretty chuffed :)

Edit - the swimming costume was actually £10 - but is going back, to make the 'body sculpture' part it is in like a tankini and bottom style, but unfortunatly, the 'cut' is just towards the bottom of my tummy and therefore adds about 5 stone onto me lol.

    £30.05 at the moment then.

Downside. Im going shopping with the girls today - whoops and i do intend not to buy anything, dont think theres anything I need, but they are all bad influence. In my defence, its all THEIR fault ;) lol. Could do with a nice 'tea dress' from primarni if theres a nice one for work i guess.

Does anybody know if I can use paper M and S vouchers online? OH gave me some vouchers he has had knocking around for years. I want to spend them online though as I dont trust myself to actually go in the shop!
I also wont count spending them, as they were a present and not actual money!
  • I'm still on 0, although as it's still only the second week of the year I'm not going to get complacent about it. Thankfully I have no urge to hit the shops at the moment - spring is my weak time, once the weather starts getting better...
