I took one Monsoon skirt back (£25) and the cardigan (£29) but I bought a black polo neck two sizes smaller than my current one (sale £15). So, I've spent a total of £67.50 (from my birthday money so not counted in budget). Back to work on Monday so the temptation to shop won't be as great.

Count me in - this is exactly what I need! I developed an alarming fascination with Kipling handbags and the Land's End website during the last few months of 2011, so no more!

I'll pledge to spend no more than £250 plus anything I make by selling clothes or bags on ebay - though I've already spent 50p on a vest in the Primark sale! (And very nice it is too ;))
If it doesn't move, eBay it until it does

    Hello all!

Well, despite having only cleared out my wardrobe back in September, I thought I would organise it into categories and see if I had any freedom clothes. Hmmm... I seem to possess 4, yes 4, pairs of white trousers, hope they still fit by summer (unlikely as I'm hoping to shed pounds, nay stones this year!) I did find a couple of going out tops I've had a few years, but again they're rather too summery for this weather. :(

Maybe I can find some freedom socks hidden in the back of my sock drawer :rotfl:

This made me laugh, I did find freedom socks last week!! :rotfl:

When I was tidying up my bedroom I lifted a carrier that I thought just had receipts in it and there were 3 pairs of socks I had totally forgotten buying!

Needless to say they have now been liberated, worn and washed already.

  • well I've managed to stay at zero spending so far which is rather tricky with all these "sales". I like debbiedejays idea of making your wardrobe pretty and more like your own boutique so have been tidying it up and sorting everything out so its easier to find and match things. Its also given me the idea of making my dressing table like a make-up artists workspace with all my cosmetics better organised...another area which i need to reduce spending on as i have enough to last me well over a year!!!

Its amazing to discover lovely tops you have hidden at the back of that wardrobe so will defo be having some freedom days, best wishes everyone and keep going :)

    Evening ladies -

Will shops stop writing love notes to me? Telling me all these illicet things such as 'Hey lady we have a sale - come ither' 'ooooooo lookie lookie at these lovely shoes' it is really not on :(

    A little moan!!

I purchased two dresses out of my lovely bfs money end of december - two from Monsoon. One costing £25.50 one costing £30 - Monsoon sent me a email today, saying 10% off sale items, and the £30 has gone down to £18.00

I havnt recieved the dresses yet - but I feel a bit 'miffed' about it. I know, sales are you buy when the price is right for you - or you risk waitin gfor it to lower and miss out, but its near as damn it £20 difference - and thats a lot of money to me when doing this challange

Im returning a few items to monsoon anyway as I made my order up so i could get FOC packaging. Im thinking of 'returning' these two dresses and just saying to the till lady, that its being returned for this reason... could you possibly let me re-buy them lovely shop lady?

I feel embarrised to do this though - possibly wouldnt in newlook, but for some reason I see Monsoon shop ladies would look down at me?

    Am I just plain rediculous?
  • This challenge is perfect for me! I was shocked last year when I added up everything I spent on clothes. Buying at cheap shops and on ebay just meant I bought more than I needed. And bought bigger sizes as I put on weight!!!
So am sticking to £200 for all clothing, shoes & accessories which will be a challenge. But if I do lose weight I will have loads of clothes to wear (just sitting in the wardrobe now!!!)
So £200 budget for me for 2012!

Hello & welcome all to the CCCC2012 :D

    Miss149, ruby_eskimo, Eltee12, silvemist05 & stup1d80 - welcome to MSE too :) -, candylucy, black cat, Nikadi & immie.

I'm in agreement with Kerfuffle that just not spending at all is the easiest way to stay within the budget - if I don't look at what's out there, in the shops, then I'm not bothered about having it.

I am meeting a friend in one of my favourite shopping towns this Friday  ... but there really is 'Nothing I Need' at the moment so I might just try not to look at all; or maybe I'll wear sunglasses in all the shops so I can look but not see so clearly :rotfl:.

There's a long way to go yet ladies so don't burn your budgets up too soon ;)

Thanks Lula-Hula, but I'd just like to reiterate, I do look like a bag lady :rotfl: Anyway tomorrow I'm going to the CS to look at belts. I have a cardi that I don't wear very often because of the way it hangs so I thought I'd see what it looked like with a belt, but the only belts I have (3) 2 are only suitable for jeans and the 3rd has a really big buckle at the front. So I'm checking out the CS for thinner ones, and I'll be wearing the cardi so I can see what it looks like before I buy it as I don't want to make any expensive mistakes. ;)

sat up in the middle of the night due to coughing and not wanting to keep Dh awake(had bronchitus all christmas but thought was getting better so stripped spare bed and can't go in there:()
lovely sequin jacket I bought at 30% off that went to 50% off the following week before the sales even started now down to £37...was £125 so work it out...I paid £82:eek:only thing is not available in my size but just goes to show how much shops make on stuff:mad:...after a bag from thje same shop(East) was £90,then £60 is now £40 so am hoping it will go down more as not going to spend that much as it is only to go with the sequin jacket.

wardrobe bursting at the seams so really don't need anything plus not been anywhere for 2 weeks now so living in jeans!...back to work next week and looking forward to a little wardrobe shopping:)
off to try and sleep now!

only another 360 to go :rotfl:

i havent spent anything this year apart from the coats i bought before this year even started :rotfl:will have a planned spend of £10ish at the end of the month

couldn't sleep last night (cause kids kept waking me and hubby was snoring i'm far from a happy bunny today) and was thinking about the kids uniform, they already have coats and ties, then i got thinking of shirts they have 9 shirts and there still long on them so i could prob get away with just buying one new pack for the 2 of them so they have new ones for the first day, trousers are all in fab condition and they have 16 pairs so i don't think i'll buy any, polo shirts again abit big so can get away with buying none, jumpers...well the first ones i bought shrunk so i bought 6 more, the first ones won't last til next year but the 6 new ones will do fine as spares, i'm not buying anymore socks as our house is coming down with them so i've decided all i need for sep is

    shirts 3 pack -£9
shoes 2 pairs at roughtly £10 each so £20
    4 new jumpers-£12
2/3 packs of new vests £6

now we should get £35 uniform allowance for them would it be tight to only spend £50 on them if we're getting more than that free? (also they can ask for receiets but i've never ehard of them doing that) i've clearly over bought this year so maybe it will even out?
