The Completely Crazy 2012 Clothes Challenge

*Creeps in to admit that actually I am just tight and don't spend much money either* Also last year I did sell stuff on Ebay and used that as free money towards other clothes, and asked people to buy me clothes/vouchers as presents, so I wouldn't have to declare these spends either... Technically I should be hurled off the challenge for being creative with my accounting
I think Debbiedeejay is the true champion at this challenge, she amazes me with her tiny spends for fab clothes.
Sister has declared that she doesn't like the dress that I picked for her wedding, so got to bl**dy go and see if I can get a whole new outfit tomorrow, this may seriously damage my budget!
:blushing:aww tha'ts made my day what a lovely thing to say - I will show my DD x 3 your post to prove that I don't look like a bag lady everyday!I probably do but at least I do it with some style:rotfl:
I used to be soooo up with the fashion when I was in my twenties - and buying new stuff every week even in the sales was the thing to do - but not now.
I can't afford or want to do it these days (actually I couldn't afford it then, hence me paying for it now:o)
mad_scientist - Break down the price of the coat over the times you are going to wear it over the next year - if it's only once to the wedding, but you know the photos will be there for ever, and it look's great on and you love it - it's a bargain, then the more times you wear it - it's even a better bargain.:T So you wear it ten times at a cost of a £1 per time, more wear = less cost.
I did this with a reduced priced dress I bought last year - I bought it knowing I could wear it a slightly different way for three major events I went to,different people etc, gratuation, wedding, mates 40th b'day bash . I could probably make it work another couple of big events and it brings the cost of the dress down each time I wear it compared to buying a new outfit for each event - and it cost less that £20 to start with and I think bought it using b'day money too so even better!Crazy Clothes Challenge 2012 £57.20/£100,CCC 2013 £68.67/£100 ,CCC 2014 £94.32/£100

Result! just been given a bag of clothes from my cousin, so these should keep me going for a while and keep baby bump a secret for a bit longer - til its safe to tell everyone!
I like the idea of "freeing" stuff from the wardrobe so I'm going to give this a try in the next few weeks or until I can fit them!
I have a satin dress that I bought for a christmas night out a few years ago - any ideas to make it less Christmassy for my work? I work in an office.
What kind of cut/shape is it? Can you layer it with a plain long sleeved T shirt, some opaque/funky patterned tights and boots? Or pop a cardi and scarf over the top? A belt around your waist or hips, cut of the dress depending, might help it look a bit more daytime too? (Hips perhaps if you don't want to draw attention to the bump just yet - congratulations by the way!)“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals.”
NSD Challenge: August 2017 2/150 -
Hello all!
Well, despite having only cleared out my wardrobe back in September, I thought I would organise it into categories and see if I had any freedom clothes. Hmmm... I seem to possess 4, yes 4, pairs of white trousers, hope they still fit by summer (unlikely as I'm hoping to shed pounds, nay stones this year!) I did find a couple of going out tops I've had a few years, but again they're rather too summery for this weather.
Maybe I can find some freedom socks hidden in the back of my sock drawer :rotfl:0 -
Why do they call this site Money Saving Expert? With grabbit threads it can be anything but:mad:
I had a mooch round the Ann Harvey site as they have a sale on there was a further 30% off if you sign up for their email. I found a lovely black batwing cape style top reduced to £7.50. Delivery was £3.95 but with the 30% off it came to £9.20 delivered, a fair price I'd say. I just hope I like it when it arrives.
So I'm now on £9.20/£300, leaving me with £290.80 to play with.
I love the freedom challenge. I have lots of lovely clothes in my wardrobe and I need to start wearing them more. I didn't go particularly mad in the sales this year as I am starting to question whether I need things now, and the fact is I simply don't in most cases. My wardrobe is very organised and I know where things are but I do sometimes forget about things and get a nice surprise. I was going to buy some more Heattech leggings from Uniqlo, but I found a pair I'd forgotten I had in a drawer this morning, so money saved, yippee.
I'm selling some stuff on eBay just now but I want to try to use that money to pay for other things, not clothes so I'll be good and not offset those profits against any spends...hopefully :rotfl:0 -
Well my budget is still intact....although it is only 4th Jan :rotfl:
Did have second thoughts about a cardi I bought in H0llister when i went sales shopping in Dec (since it wasn't actually in the sale as i had thought and was full price ) BUT I think it is something I will wear lots esp when the weather is warmer (my style, colour etc) and I don't have to wear 'office' wear as such to work (jeans etc allowed) so I don't really have separate work / weekend clothes.
So 4 days down, 362 and £500 to go...this could be a looooong year :rotfl:Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

My budget is still intact in fact I have taken back a couple of December sales purchases but I have reallocated this money to a different budget as I'm hoping my budget is generous - she says (ha!)....although it is only 4 days in, must stay away from the grabbit board :rotfl:

Hello & welcome all to the CCCC2012
Miss149, ruby_eskimo, Eltee12, silvemist05 & stup1d80 - welcome to MSE too-, candylucy, black cat, Nikadi & immie.
I'm in agreement with Kerfuffle that just not spending at all is the easiest way to stay within the budget - if I don't look at what's out there, in the shops, then I'm not bothered about having it.
I am meeting a friend in one of my favourite shopping towns this Friday  ... but there really is 'Nothing I Need' at the moment so I might just try not to look at all; or maybe I'll wear sunglasses in all the shops so I can look but not see so clearly :rotfl:.
There's a long way to go yet ladies so don't burn your budgets up too soon0 -

its like a shift dress but with a low v cut at the neck. The idea of wearing a long sleeved t shirt is sounding appealing, in fact I have a purple one and a nice purple and black scarf! thanks so much for this! :T
I'm now 8 weeks but I feel like the size of a house already! Will have to free some more clothes soon or I wont fit them! Will make good use of my friends clothes though. :rotfl:Debt Free Roll of Honor #598

This challenge sounds like something I need, I'm setting my target at £50 as I have had lots of clothes for christmas. Unfortunately my daughter seems to out grow something each week so I won't be including her in this one!Debt free, aim to be MF by 50 (Sept 2026)
