hi all
can i join, my house is perpetually a mess, disabled husband 2 messy daughters both of whom think its my right to clean up after them as i dont work and its my job. So here i am. House a bmb site an i only cleaned it properley last week. Anyway new years resolution have a clean if not always neat house. I have started n my washing and getting it from the various hiding places the girlies put it...which is never ever the laundry basket....and i am starting over hauling the house....starting with the kitchen!!! wish me luck xxxx0 -
Gailey,
With a busy house full of kids and a busy OH then your basics are going to be more than others and just kids alone can wear you out and make the days go faster.
But please remeber
They won't recall the house was tidy and our lives were organsided
They don't care if they have clean and or ironed clothes
Food was fed but as long as it was food they didnt really care what it was only if it was late!
Kitchens and Bathrooms were in the main hygenic
Cupboards and fridge had the makings of meals most of the time
They did miss running out of toilet rolls though :-)
Really look at whats important to you and yours and then plan it in 15 minutes at a time. Make sure that time planning is worth it and the outcome makes you smile.
Make sure that the basics are really basic for your household i.e.
can I hoover late in the day so can enjoy the cleaner room when they go to bed
would putting out the kids clothes for the next day be safer than them choosing their own
Not sure what age but maybe the kids can help organise or tidy toys for bribes whoops I meant rewards can you pack some away so they play with the favourites for now then swop them with the packed away ones etc rather than them getting everthing out
The main thing is make it work for you not make it harder. No one will remember this time next week if we dont dust LOL
But they will remeber that when they were little Mum always had time for a cuddle.
In fact I think we can all find little things that if we didnt actually do them no one would notice LOL
I would love to say it gets easier but I have 2 very large teens in my lounge right now with quilts and stuff eveyrwhere as we have a very sicky house (1 of them has pleurisy) the rest have fluey colds another teen has just cooked bacon sandwiches and made tea eventually for the others and OH and not without a lot of mess and shouting. And now the kitchen is once again covered in bacon spit and the lounge has plates and cups gathering again.
Its New Years eve one teen is going out but not sure what time but yes he would like dinner. One has pleurisy so may not be eating at all her boyfriend is just flopping about and encouraging more pathetic behaviour from her than that which is really needed (can you pick my tissue up or can you move my blanket all said in a very whiny voice) he just gets fed and ordered around if I feel he isnt pulling his weight versus the amount of time he spends here :-)
I have flu the really achey yucky type and OH decided when I really needed a hand today to go and see what bargain he could get on his mobile phone as he is due an upgrade!! Oh yes he has MAN FLU but it seems new mobile phones make you feel better for the couple of hours it takes to go out and search a bargain.
I stupidly said can you get some bits on your way back and gave him a £4 of £20 for sainsburys to use on any bargains after getting the bits I wanted.
So bets on what he thinks are good bargains as I only asked for paracetamol suger and bread but the coupon runs out today.
And to top it all the pleurisy girl who is actually very poorly (the whiny voice just grates after 2 nights up with her) just opened one eye and said I hope we have got party poppers for tonight !!!!!! She cant even sit up on her own let alone pulll a party popper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK I have waffled and gone of track which was Gailey you are doing just fine please give yourself a break over the things not done just take a little time out to plan a few things you want to do and remeber no one can do it all in one go and then a pat on the back for every extra task you manage to tick off.

Wow this is great if you dont know where to start. 1 Job a day.
I will print it off and will cross out any not relevent to me.
Although I never do as I am told so will probably start then end up just picking a job or jobs to fit some allocated time. But the point is it something daily is better than nothing coz then I can have a reward :rotfl:Living the dream and retired in Cyprus :j

Have to say the calendar wasn't my find - but thank you all
made ME think that allocating 15 minutes on one area (ie a shelf or a drawer) on one of my non-working days might be a good idea!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson
