    Morning guys

2012-I have to keep with it.
if I stand still for too long then things build up and I get overwhelmed.

Me and hubby do say some jobs are everyday basics

    washing up
hoovering downstairs-can assure you upstairs gets hoovered not often
washing 2-3loads a day washer and drier constantly on
care of kids ie washing dressing, feeding
    shopping
    cooking
    bills and chores

Anything not on that is is seen as luxury or bonus extra.
Normally im so busy firefighting the continual mess kids make

    ie being sick
    wee wee accident-toddlers potty training
    kids get toys everywhere
craft stuff even more evil-been trying for weeks to emiminate glitter from lounge
kids when getting dressed take all their clothes out of drawers
contsantly stripping leaving piles of clothes on floor and shoes to trip up over

Add that ensuring they dressed nice and clean
sorting out their scary fraggle hair.
    changing 2kids nappies.
ensuring they eat-because we have open plan lounge diner its horrid food everywhere we call it feeding time at the zoo.
If weathers ok we rtry and get them out as being couped up in house all day drives us all crazy.

But its because im just doing the basics that cant do the extra.
whiich is why im in this mess.
So for next month I reckon I need to

    stay focussed
    be ruthless
stop moving stuff from one room to another or room to cupboard of doom
organise enough storage systems as its why I have mountains clean laundry to put away as can face ramming it in draws/airing cupboard.
Sort out diary and wall planner as been so rubbish last 6months.
unless you get to root cause(my management background)comming through then the mess will be tidied but start up again which is whats happened in this house.

we have countless sort outs and never managed to maintain it due to

    very messy kids
    lack of time
    lack of storage
swear my house is shrinking as is the car! car currently looks like rubbish tip on wheels.

    garden looks like danger zone!

so I need to stick with it until I get to easy maintain level dont feel im anywhere near yet.

Dont think I do anymore than most mums, hubby works long hours have no family that help apart from mum every few months and makes me feel like crap.
Few months ago one of my freinds was really critical of my house and gave me lecture
but she has 1 child. Also her flats not immaculate so got quite cross at time as she knows what little terroists my kids are. when her kid comes over and play she doesnt tidy up she refuses!

Also 2012 think its nice tro get out have some family time yes want to sort house out but dont want to become slave to it lifes too short.

ahh girls rowing, bored , restless and creating mess.
Think need time out might go co-op soon as youngest 2 will nap.

discovered eldest goes back tuesday unsure why thourght following week.

weighed myself lost nothing but gained nothing
    goit weighin tuesday
but over aunts tommorow who does lovley food.
really need to get strict and get back on plan.
would love loss every week and start new year not with gain.

    Right best get everyone dressed.
Think getting out do us all good
leave us refreshed for task ahead.

checked ebay tvb table I bid on dissapeared realy weird
    watchiung few chest draws though
    cheap storage would be fab
even with being ruthless not got enough.

Dobs -yes mine never in actaul size of accordance to their age,
    They all tall.
so inbetween sizes need to go in loft
it doesnt help on size as well toddler got primark pjs and they huge!

Alision welcome sounds like you going through tough time at moment good luck.

I occasionally watch hoarding programmes-not saying any of us hoarders I think uk housing too small on tv american houses always look massive! But usually theres another reason behind it.

Think depression can play huge part in why houses can get out of control.
Also when we have other responsabilities like kids/sick relatives its very easy to lose our way as never seems enough hours in a day yet when it is tidier I feel happier according to my space clearing book its an ancient art apparently!:rotfl:

Gailey - I can't work when the house is a mess (I work from home so can't get away from it) so I am constantly trying to find solutions and reorganising. Obviously it's harder with three kids and when you are renting so can't make major changes, but I have definitely found that having less stuff and better storage makes it easier.

As others have said, even using cardboard boxes (maybe the kids can decorate them with pictures of what is going to live in them to get them involved and engaged) as a temporary solution can help you to work out what you actually need in the long term rather than spending money on things that don't work and having to try again (been there, done that). Don't hang on to stuff for sentimental reasons unless you are going to have it out and use it. If it is shut away and never seen, you might as well pass it on tot someone who will appreciate it, either via eBay or the charity shop.

I think I've been throwing things out since I moved in here 12 years ago, and there is still too much stuff... Sometimes I wish people would stop giving me 'things' as I really don't need them and just feel guilty about it. I have a birthday coming up and my DB keeps asking me what I want, but there is nothing that I need... Or have space for!

That was me for Xmas I just kept thinking no space for anything ESP when I knew LO would get stuff n would need to find room for all that.

I got couple tops that I will wear so that's ok, a coat which I've taken back my mother brought me 1 last yr no idea why thought I needed another lol. I got new kitchen scales which I asked for as wanted digital ones. Got loads of chocs but will eat them fine lol I got couple CDs I wanted n new pc game. Think it's guest year I've not wanted much at all. But means I don't have to worry too much about where my stuff goes.

Didn't even get the few items I asked for LO don't get y ppl ask what they would like If not going to buy it

  • My biggest downfall is books. Luckily I got a Kindle for Christmas last year!

I wrote myself a 'to do' list at 9am this morning. I wanted to crack on with the kitchen. I need to sort the recycling, clear worktops, clean cooker top, clean draining board, sweep and mop kitchen floor, sweep and mop downstairs loo, clean said loo and tidy shoes by back door.

    It's now 3 minutes to 12 and I've done !!!!!! all!!
Had I started when I wrote the list I would have been finished now! :rotfl:

I blame you ladies for writing too much!!

Gailey: Who is this 'friend' of yours? Family disapproving of your home is bad enough. I think to a certain extent a lot of our mothers are like that. But your 'friend' has no right to lecture you about your house or children. Who needs enemies....

You do a great job as has been said by so many people. Don't let others put you down.
