I'm surprised no one has pointed out the obvious, a 4 hour wait for the tills means the queue would have been running all the way down the high street. You couldn't fit enough people into a next store to have a 4 hour wait!0 -

I was once accued of queue jumping at Argos! My number got called and I stepped up to collect, only to be loudly tutted and have "bloody queue jumpers" muttered at me. Clearly some guy who didn't understand the concept of "you get a number, you wait till your number gets called, you collect your item". I tried explaining this to him, but the method was obviously beyond his realm of understanding.0

In Soviet Russia, queue jumpers ... get sent to the Gulag.
In Modern Russia, queue jumpers ... get shot.
In Britain, queue jumpers ... get whatever they want.0 -
The tv news tonight showed a mad rush when the doors opened and the majority of the folk running into the stores seemed to be of Chinese origin. The commentator said that people from all over the world came to join the queues. Is this true? Are the sale prices here attractive enough to do this? I wouldn't have thought so, but maybe someone could tell me otherwise.
I think was for Selfridges. (Not that I'd travel to another country for any sale!)0 -
You take your chances with sales. Isn't that all part of the 'fun'? If you're prepared to get to a shop at 6am, then why not be prepared to queue until midday? Both strike me as utterly barking things to do. What's wrong with online sales shopping, fgs?"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

I bet most people there were pro Ebay sellers after stock. You could sell a bucket of sick as long as it had a Next label and was listed as BNWT (brand new with tags).
I do find it quite amusing that Next became so aspirational! I mean come on... next!!!
On the point of the op, probably better to let people queue jump, before they get the knives out these days!0 -
O.M.G. I'd rather sit nice and warm at home relaxing with a nice cup of tea on boxing day. Which I did. Rather than stand it a long queue for NEXT at 6am with all the pushing and shoving and not getting served until noon.
Life is way too short.0 -
I like Next but still wouldn't queue for that long for a few quid off, I have been to the sales and still got a couple of nice things for 50% off.
The bus station is town is terrible for people queue jumping though they need a system like they have in the city.0
