Shockingly blatant queue jumping at NEXT!

Options
Hi,

I have just returned from NEXT.

This has been our worst experience yet at the next sale.

We managed to get there for around 6, and there was already a queue to get in.

Joined the queue for the tills around 8 o'clock, and we were served at about 12 o'clock.

I don't have issues with waiting in a long queue for the tills. What really wound me up was that it wasn't a particularly long queue. However, people were blatantly queue jumping all morning, and we were stuck at the same place for hours on end. I pointed this out to one of the supervisors, and she said I'll keep an eye out. However, it still continued even when we were close to the till.

I was so angry I aasked to speak to the manager, and I gave her a piece of my mind.

My point is that if they extra security at the door, they should have security at the tills to ensure people are not queue jumping.

Next management: sort it out!

Rant over.

  • It's not up to the staff to sort out. you're not at school in the lunch queue; if somebody jumps the queue then it's down to the people who object to tell them to get to the back.

That's easier said than done. There were a few of us trying to make the point, but no one was listening.

I believe it is up to the staff to ensure this sort of thing doesn't happen.

And if they refuse to go to the back and simply tell you to **** off, what then?
You are correct that it's not a school lunch queue. At least there you could make your feelings known without too much fear that you would end up being penalised.
Physically attempt to move a queue jumper and the chances are that at the very least you will be removed from the shop, and there's a reasonable possibility that the police will be called and you end up getting charged for assault. (and thats providing that the queue jumper didn't decide to clout you or pull out a knife.)

Of course it's for the staff to sort out.
The problem is happening in their store and if they employed enough people to manage the vast number of customers that they have allowed inside then the problem wouldn't occur.
  • Seriously, why do people queue up for Next? The stuff needs a bloody good iron! There's better stuff in my attic.

The same thing happened to us at Next 2 years ago, we'd been waiting in a queue for hours (behind the same people, obviously) then someone cut infront of us, we asked what he was doing and he ignored us, we kept on and he said he was "already here but left for a moment" - at this point some others in the queue backed him up. Both the queue jumper and those who backed him up were Asian.

I don't bother going any more.

Four hours queueing in a shop? Seriously? I would have thrown my stuff on the floor and walked out after 20 minutes.

    Life is too short.

    What an idiotic comment! rolleyes.gif

The staff are the only ones who can sort it out without recourse to illegal physical force if the queue jumpers refuse to behave.

They can simply refuse to serve the queue jumpers.

Though why these fools can't have a ticket system I can't imagine.
