Cross Stitch Cafe 2012

Hi all,
I have just found this thread so am going through all the posts.
My parents loved Egypt and got me a Tutankhamen cross stitch about 10 years ago. I would do bits on and off as hated the colours. Anyway, dad got a new job and they were due to move to Australia in September so rushed to get it finished - mum forgot she had given it to me.
They have now moved to Australia (flew out 30th January) and would love to stitch them the opera house in Sidney. Looking on eBay the kit was £80 which is more than my budget can stretch. So was wondering if anyone had a chart of the opera house they would be willing to share. Don't mind on size of finished picture.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Ruth-Honey - thanks for the email. Next but one on my list.
PAP - I can't remember if I said congratulations on your new job. In case I didn't congratulations.
I think I may have a piece of the sparkly aida in my stash so may now have to stitch something on it having seen how nice it looks.
Here's the update on my Embroiderer's Prayer - week 3 (well it will be tomorrow) and it's finished.

Having said that it's finished on the instructions it suggests that you add the year that the piece is stitched in the bottom right corner. As I am a symetry freak I don't think I can add 2012 to one side only. Any suggests or do you think I should leave it as it is?Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

Thank you. That is the sort of thing im looking for. My boyfriend is just worried how long it's going to take but hopefully it looks a lot of block colour which should be ok.

Chelmesfordgirl1 - I don't have any charts of Sydney Opera House but I googled and have found the following http://www.momwiz.com/pics/cross/Landmarks/Stitched/Sydney%20Opera%20House.htm for $12.95. There's also a book called Travel the world in Cross Stitch available from Amazon for under £8.
These are just suggestions in case no one has anything to help.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

Hi Sc00bie, you posted this a few pages ago - do you know what the fabric is called? I like the sparkly bits
I found 'Aida pearl flecked white' on sew and so but can't make the pic out. Can't find anything else that looks sparkly?
Thanks!
This is probably the Glitter Aida that Willow Fabrics sell = and they do colours as well as white. I've always had great service when I've used this company and you can order online or by phone.0 -

How about your initials on one side and 2012 on the other? I've done that with a few designs. It is nice sometimes to look at your stitching on the wall & see the year stitched and think how much you've stitched since then. I usually ask DH's opinion on if I should initial/date my work & if so, where it should go. Most of the time he says yes & it tends to be the bottom left corner. Have a look at my album for an example. http://s917.photobucket.com/albums/ad11/Honey_4/My%20cross%20stitch/Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Looks wonderful. Your name/intials one side, date on the other?0 -
Ruth-honey and Flowersofscotland - I would do my intials on one side and the year on the other but in the middle at the top there's already a box for initials which I've stitched in.
What do you think about Feb on the left side and 2012 on the right side?Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

It's lovely - well done on finishing so fast
I would think the year would be fine on one side tbh, but if you don't want it to look lopsided, why not stitch the year onto the little pot holding the threads or something? I can't make out how many lines wide the brown band round the pot is, but it looks like it could be thick enough to stitch a discreet date on to?Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219.
