Wow Louise that's a lot of cross stitch! I don't think I'd ever have the patience to stitch a picture that big.
I like the lap frame that people keep mentioning on this thread, when I'm next planning to stitch a larger picture I might have to get one for myself!
I went away for a few days, took a new unstarted snowman with me, and managed to finish most of it:
I'm going to finish them all then do all the backing at once, the instructions say to use a self adhesive backing, does anyone have any recomendations? I was thinking self adhesive felt maybe?
Current progress on alphabet sampler:
The O and T are DMC colour variations thread - I couldn't decide for a while whether to stitch it a cross at a time or a line at a time, in case anyone else is trying to decide which to do, this is what it looks like stitched one cross at a time.
The instructions in the kit say to copy some of the letters on to the front of the fabric with carbon paper then stitch over them (the k, g, j, q, u, x, y: http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/Liberty-Patch-Sampler-DISC__DMC-BK714.aspx ). I've not used carbon paper before, does anyone know how would I remove the marks from the fabric afterwards?
Also I've got a 15x25cm piece of the patterned aida left over from the sampler, it would a shame to let it go to waste, I'll have to think of something to stitch on it!0 -

Although it's a free listing weekend, I'm not convinced it's a good week to list my cross stitch and tapestry kits.
It's half term here and it's the middle of the month, so people wont have just got paid when the items finish.
I'm thinking Ill just put a few xs charts on there, but leave the rest for another time.0 -

Love the snowman bookmark Humphrey10 Self adhesive felt is great for backing. Adding a small ribbon or tassel at the bottom of the bookmark sandwiched between the stitching and the backing gives a nice finishing touch.
Also love the alphabet. What is patterned aida like to stitch on? I've been attracted to it but never tried it. Can't help about the carbon I'm afraid0 -
Went down the pub last night with OH and met a friend. It was a real disappointment. They had a band on so you couldn't chat without shouting at each other and the choice of drinks on offer was very disappointing. I was sat there extremely bored and thinking how much I wanted to be back at home, in the warm, with my cross stitch!
Anyway, this afternoon, my OH is cooking tea :j so I am going to retire now to the sofa with my cross stitch and the tv/my audio book (Siege by Simon Kernick).
May come on this evening and post a picture of my stitching0 -

Hi everyone!
Been busy trying to sneakily stitch a Valentines gift for DH. I'm stitching this http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/February-Flip-It-Stamp-Chart__LIZ-LKF35.aspx but I don't have the thread needed for the darker pink colour in the heart. It's stitched in hand dyed threads in the pic, but the DMC equivalent is 309. I have other pinks, but if anyone has a shade card handy and could look at a few suitable alternatives, I'd be really grateful. Thank you!!!
I've also had a tidy up in the spare room, and have finally found the Lizzie Kate 'Don't get your tinsel in a tangle' chart that I misplaced, so that will be winging it's way to the promised stitcher very soon. Apologies that it's taken ages to find it. If you saw how much stuff I had, you'd know why it did!
The LK 'A good Marriage' has arrived, so let me know if anyone can look after the back up files for that.I know elliep was going to look after a copy for me.

My dmc shadecard is quite a few years old but I think the thread numbers/colours are the same?
Anyway I would say these colours match DMC 309. I would say the closest match is 3831, also similar are 326 and 3350. also 601?
If you have a look on sew and so, they have two options for buying threads, one displays the colours so you can get an idea from that also.0 -

Looking at actual threads I would say the nearest is 3831. 304 or 150 would be suitable alternatives. You could also try using 2 slightly different shades of pinky red together in the same needle to get a variegated type effect. With a design like this I don't think it matters too much - I stitch lots of Lizzie Kate and usually use whatever I have that I think is suitable. Lovely design BTW.0 -
THink it's time I stitched something for myself. My last two bigger projects have been for my mum and currently finishing off her freesias for Mothers Day plus a keyring for my niece who seems suddenly fascinated by the whole X stitch business. I have some kits to do for my home but looking for ideas for the kitchen and bathroom (quite like the Country Comps bubble bath design) and maybe a Home Sweet Home design for my hallway when it's finally finished??

I stitched him on sparkly 16 ct aida. I usually prefer evenweave, especially with this many tiny fractional stitches, but it wasn't so bad.
I pretty much followed the backstitch pattern exactly though, I wouldn't trust myself to make it up.
He took me 3 evenings, not bad for me!
Hi Sc00bie, you posted this a few pages ago - do you know what the fabric is called? I like the sparkly bits
I found 'Aida pearl flecked white' on sew and so but can't make the pic out. Can't find anything else that looks sparkly?
