Well I have had a busy week, not must stitching. I see a lot of you had done loads of stitching I love the progress of some of the projects love lovely. :j I went to the creative craft show the other day. I see what someone said (I am sorry I have forgotten who it was now  ) about the amount of stalls with card making stuff. It did make me laugh though they had an Adjustamatic Beds stall. I didnt see anyone there all day lol.
It was very busy and I am glad that I got there early. I might not go again though, but I am glad that I went and had a look. I was very good, as I didnt think that I spent that much. I know that I could of spent a LOT more. I did love a tiger and a black panther, but it looked like the kit had come from either Greece or Russia. Has anyone had any kits from these countries before ? as I dont know what the quality is like of the threads if you know what I mean. I did buy a couple of kits and a jewellery making kit. i am looking forward to getting a minute to myself to have a go at making some jewellery.
Right thats it for now Im off to watch the end of Dancing On Ice
Happy stitching everyone
and of course congrats to Moosmummy :T and to pap :Tcross stitch cafe #90 UFO's 6 to finish in 2013, and loads of new kits to boot

b_e_g it's freezing here! Am wrapped up in so many jumpers I must look like a giant cushion :rotfl:
lancs_lady - how about magnets or bookmarks made from your daughter's crosstitch?
Flat Eric - I'm another that starts in the centre and works out. I tend to leave all the backstitch to the end, but thats just me!
Loving everyone's updates, you've all inspired me
Here is Ickle Ted number 2 (thanks again Louise!) I stitched him on sparkly 16 ct aida. I usually prefer evenweave, especially with this many tiny fractional stitches, but it wasn't so bad.
I pretty much followed the backstitch pattern exactly though, I wouldn't trust myself to make it up.
He took me 3 evenings, not bad for me!
Next on my list is Santa's List. My stitchy bug is in full swing, I can't wait to start it tomorrow!
Hugs to all xHi Sc00bie, you posted this a few pages ago - do you know what the fabric is called? I like the sparkly bits
I found 'Aida pearl flecked white' on sew and so but can't make the pic out. Can't find anything else that looks sparkly?
Thanks!
I have started that Lickle Ted design. Here is my progress so far. (I started him yesterday morning) I think he will make a nice birthday card design

sk00bie1, how did you find the backstitch ?and also when you did the backstitch around the flower, did you use one or two strands? I was thinking may be using two strands to make it stand out ??
Observer, I like that sparkly aida too but I couldn't find it on sew and so.0 -

I have never been to one of those shows. I have always wondered though - how do the prices of the kits and other stitchy bits compare to buying online ?0 -
My dmc shadecard is quite a few years old but I think the thread numbers/colours are the same?
Anyway I would say these colours match DMC 309. I would say the closest match is 3831, also similar are 326 and 3350. also 601?
If you have a look on sew and so, they have two options for buying threads, one displays the colours so you can get an idea from that also.flowerofscotland wrote: »Looking at actual threads I would say the nearest is 3831. 304 or 150 would be suitable alternatives. You could also try using 2 slightly different shades of pinky red together in the same needle to get a variegated type effect. With a design like this I don't think it matters too much - I stitch lots of Lizzie Kate and usually use whatever I have that I think is suitable. Lovely design BTW.
Thank you both! I have gone for 3831. It looked too red on the skein, but now I've done some stitches with it, I think it's a good substitute.tellmeitsfriday wrote: »Oooo i like that sparkly stuff... wonder if they also do it in colours other than white.. don't let me buy it!
I love sparkly fabric! I have used white, cream, pale blue, bright red, navy & I have some GORGEOUS hand dyed evenweave with sparkly bits in that I plan to use on the next LK design. I believe it's from Silkweavers-sorry for any unexpected credit card spends!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

I still have your email, so I'll be in touch with a list of what I have!
Hope you feel better soon.I have never been to one of those shows. I have always wondered though - how do the prices of the kits and other stitchy bits compare to buying online ?
The shows used to be so good & you could get plenty of bargains, but the past few years they've really gone downhill (from a stitchers point of view). The last one I went to had a CHEESE stall, for goodness sake!!! :mad:Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Some of the kits that I saw were cheaper than shopping on line, others you could buy online a lot cheaper. I have never seen some of the makes of kits before. I did write down some kits numbers and makes on my mobile phone then I compared prices online when I got home.cross stitch cafe #90 UFO's 6 to finish in 2013, and loads of new kits to boot

Thanks Ruth. It's the antibiotics getting me now, not the pain... I'm either queasy or ravenous.
