Although I love the work of Margaret Sherry, this, I think is the first kit/design of hers that I have stitched. I have no complaints about the design but I do have grumbles at not enough thread being supplied with the kit. On the right hand side of the teacup, I miscounted the squares so started the 3/4 stitches one square too early meaning I had to unpick, the thread frayed and now I have run out of the light pink.
Similarly a very very light grey is used to fill in the cat face's and is also used at the bottom of the tea cup (2 strands of half cross stitches) (which I haven't done yet). The threads were very difficult to sort in the first place and it was very difficult to distinguish between white and the very very light grey so it will be a hunt through my thread box this afternoon to find a pink to finish the teacup handle and also to find a light grey thread to finish the half cross stitches.
I have to say I have lost enthusiasm now particularly as the back has turned out rather messy but I shall try to persevere and get him finished. I don't think he is really a valentines design but will be nice for my aunty's birthday at the end of next month.0 -
Haha, that's not a messy back... if you want to see one of those.. nooo I can't show you

Hello
Its me - sorry I have not been around much. I do watch from afar and cheer when something happy happens and get sad when its sad - I am sorry I don't post more. Not done any stitching for ages - lost my mojo.
Think I am still with the black dog. Hubby still has no news about the job he went for. Was wondering should he contact them and ask and how do you ask - don't want to sound cheeky.
A little concerened about the blue pens. I marked up a stitch that resides in my hubbys storage shed in America. It has been there now just over 2 years. I dread to think what it will be like when we go back - can't afford to just now. I marked it up when I was last over and started a pattern - think I got up to one page done out of 9. It will be in a dark area - no one else goes in, we have the only key. Each time we go to the States we take a wee bit more out. His parents refused to store any of his stuff so we had to use this - rather not pay out but have to. Hubby has gone through and got rid of a lot but still some remains.
Congrats to moosmummy and to pap with your new job. Been thinking of you Louise and hope things are as well as they can be.
I am working away - nothing else for it. Getting into wee mini flaps when I can't do something and when I ask for help I am made to look so small that I should know but I don't.
Can't mind who was looking for the Cross Stitch Collection mum pattern - can they let me know - got my subs today.
Kind wishes to all, keep well where ever you are.

I always start a design with the best of intentions but then things go awry. I thought I had secured all the loose threads but I had a few stitches fall out ! so had to restitch (not clever when you are limited on thread). I know that if I am going to stitch a country companions design where for the tweeding effect, you use two strands of different coloured thread, that I am going to have to be really careful and as neat as possible hence why I am trying to get as much practice in as possible. I think I still need more practice !
I'm sure teacup kitty will look ok when he is finished but I have to say, I don't feel the love for him anymore although I am excited about picking my next project0 -
chickywiggle wrote: »no pap no backstitch which is why i was a bit dubious but i think it has come out much clearer then i expected.
Mmm, it does look clear but imo it would look better with backstitch. Might have a difference of opinion once its finished thoughflowerofscotland wrote: »Congratulations on the new job - will you be giving up one job when trained or are you going to continue with 2 (feels tired just thinking about having 2 jobs:eek:
Looking forward to seeing your update on Tuesday after your reward of quality stitching time - which you well deserve
Ohhh no, one job only. This one is much better at full time too :T The new job want to train me while at current job so I can get on the road as soon as I finish here and my checks have come back clear . Just a mad few weeks until I drop my current job
Back home now, checking main webbys then back to London!0 -

If you have The Best of Margaret Sherry Book, would you mind looking at a chart for me?
I like the Photographer Cat on page 74 but thread number Anchor 3865 (the cat's tummy) would appear not to exist ? I have an anchor thread chart so have checked that and nope, no mention. So me wonders if its a dmc thread and I've checked on the sew and so site (the option where you can see the thread colours) and 3865 would appear to be an off white/cream colour which would make sense for the chart design. The anchor equivalent is 2 which is white or off white? very confusing.
In other news, I will be able to stop boring you all with phone talk as I have ordered myself a new phone from Amzon. I opted for the N0kia Asha 201. Although I have compromised on the camera which is 2MB (same as what I have at the moment), it has a qwerty keyboard and lots of features including the up to 32GB Memory Card capacity  I have also ordered myself a purple phone sock :rotfl: Price wise, it was only £5 more expensive to order from Amzon over online from Car Ph0ne Warehou7e and I will have a sim free handset which means i can pick and choose what network I want. I have to say I am nervous about having all these social networking capabilities on my phone but it will be nice to have the option to use them if I wish. So thanks for putting up with all my waffle about phones - I can shut up now about them :rotfl:
In stitching news, fallen out of love with my teacup kitty (only backstitch now I think) so going to leave that for another day.
Have started the Lickle Ted kit holding the yellow flower that someone has stitched on here and posted a picture the other day. Its a lovely design but I am nervous already about the backstitch! Will be good practice for Tatty Ted though!
Also need to sort out a kit to keep in the office and a kit to keep me amused on my daily commute.
Happy stitchy evening all :j0 -
Sat watching rubbish on TV sewing my MP Bookmark but going dollally with it so may start the other one I need to finish by March, however my lovely, though frustatingly strangleworthy OH has just announced that some close friends of his are expecting a baby in June (what to make for them) and we have been invited to a wedding of some other close friends in October.
Now due to OH being gorgeously Spanish and all the events occuring in Spain I would like to do something relevant - has anyone got any ideas (probally have a huge stash that I can root through just need some inspiration - and the time to list it all so I can easy access it)0 -
can't stitch ........ must ebay........ humph!!
pap i thought i was going to have to create some backstitch too.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0
