Despite my plans to continue stitching kitty in a teacup this evening (free margaret sherry card kit - will post pic over weekend), I have managed no stitching. Instead, I have done my food shop (to be delivered tomorrow) and have once again wasted a good few hours hunting for a new mobile. I am bored to tears of mobiles now and think I will just throw in the towel and not bother.

I don't want a smartphone yet it seems impossible to get anything half decent. I have been planning on leaving Virgin Mobile and with my (pay as you go) bundle renewing next week thought if I was going to get a new phone, it would have to be this weekend but I am so indecisive - one bad review and thats it, I'm not interested.

I also realise that however much the new phone costs me, well thats not exactly saving me any money which makes me very inclined not to bother full stop. If it works, why replace it ? but .... I am still torn so if any of you are mobile phone anoraks and can tell me what phone would include a camera (prefer to have more than 2 MP but will compromise) a radio, music player and conversational threaded messaging then please let me know. Also like the idea of a qwerty keyboard. Sorry now going to shut up and stitch for a little bit before bedtime. Night all x

loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:
  • That's the one I am lusting after at the moment (the S II)

What do you think of it Chicky?

I didn't actually know you could buy a non-smart phone phone anymore....!
  • ahhh seee i only have the original one but it is brilliant. SOOOO many aps (as opposed to hubby's HTC that you can't download naff all too).
It also has a built in kindle style app (which i dont use cause the screen is too small but i think it's a pretty good idea).

Have seen the s2 and there's not a lot of difference tho.

  • Many thanks to all of you for my wishes. Can't wait to start to be honest but the checks take time :o Goot a bit of stitching done last night, itching to move onto another A4 sheet of paper though, hate all this confetti!

Louise, nearly there, its a really nice image, can't wait to see it finished.

Chicky, well done getting that page finished. Does the design have any backstitch?

I have a non smart phone. I had a semi smart phone but when it broke down (2months ago maybe) I replaced it with an LG candy bar type phone for £8.49. Love it and it has a camera, will prob get another smart phone in the coming year but I love the fact I can charge this one and it lasts more than 3 days. Perfect for me when I forget about it floating in my bag :rotfl:

Have a great saturday all, off to work and then I am coming home to stitch :T
  • no pap no backstitch which is why i was a bit dubious but i think it has come out much clearer then i expected.

  • Afternoon ladies, no update from me because I have been too busy to stitch. I have secured myself a new job so when I am not training with them on my days off from current job I am researching on the internet. Going to reward myself with a few hours tonight before a whole weekend in the current job :(

Shall post an update on Tuesday I think :j

Ps, I want a lapframe now. I used a hobby craft voucher for a roller wooden one but its pants because you can't get the fabric tight enough. I will try and invest in a lapframe soon :D

Congratulations on the new job - will you be giving up one job when trained or are you going to continue with 2 (feels tired just thinking about having 2 jobs:eek:

Looking forward to seeing your update on Tuesday after your reward of quality stitching time - which you well deserve
  • Louise - TOM looks stunning - really looking forward to seeing the final finished piece (sorry - no pressure intended)

Chicky - love it. I like designs without backstitch but that is very much a personal preference. I mean I like the look of them not just not having to stitch the bs

Flat Eric - you will find the best versions of what you are looking for in a mobile phone in one of the later (not necessarily latest) smartphones and you don't have use the internet, apps etc but the whole user experience is so much better. I'm so old that I have had mobiles since the 1980s and I remember when I got my first phone with a camera thinking why would I ever want to use that feature....................... So jump into the world of smartphones and you can get back to using your spare time stitching instead of fretting over mobiles :D
  • Ok I have an unexpected free Sunday as my guests have postponed their visit due to illness (colds - nothing serious just miserable) and bad weather conditions for driving so I have just drawn up my plan for stitching this weekend :j

Of course I've still got various boring household tasks but if I finish them today I think the following is achievable - if nothing goes wrong of course
    1. Finish the xs on Angel Stocking
    2. Make Angel into Stocking
    3. Stitch name and small design onto bib of Somebunny soft toy (small gift for friend's first granddaughter)
    4. Finish Dictionary of Cakes - when I got it out there really isn't a lot to be done and it's all bs. Thanks for the inspiration and reminder

    Wish me luck :)
