  • oh nooo FE - what you going to see (if you can find them)......... am sure you did say.

    no pressies KatyLiz :(

luckily we open pressies away from everyone (and they do same with ours) so i can't see their disapointment - likewise don't have to hide mine! :D
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

I didn't expect anything, I really didn't mind! My parents paid for our car service and MOT at the beginning of the month instead, we no longer speak to hubby's family, and hubby has no money at all - so I had no chance of a present.

The kids had a great Christmas though, and that's the important thing :)

My family always like to see reactions to pressies, sometimes I wish they didn't though, especially as the kids are too young to be diplomatic!

Flat Eric - hope you find the tickets.

Well, I've dug my stitching back out from under my bed. Task for tonight : pick up the needle and actually do something!!

yes I have just found the tickets! I went out to the garage and retrieved the recycling bag. Lo and behold I find the envelope I *thought* the tickets were stored in except there are no tickets ?? check carefully through rest of recycling bag! no tickets! so back to beginning, to where I originally thought I had stored them..... They aren't there but then I moved everything out when I couldn't find them so I empty drawer (new home for bedside drawer junk) onto bed and carefully sort through everything. Opening all leaflets and pieces of paper and shaking everything out. Lo and behold the tickets are just there. Don't know how I missed them because I sorted through the drawer about 3 times!!!

well that was a fun way to spend a morning and a bit !!

One of the plus sides to having spent most of today faffing looking for tickets is that I found the tigger chart I had mislaid! I also found something else I had been looking for and I found this kit ! which I have started

this is what it will end up like. Its stitched on 18 count aida and is relatively simple to do but still a tad annoying and fiddley with the holes being so small. I am glad therefore that I haven't yet signed myself up for that kitty litter kit !

the other week i got a charity shop crossstitcher and inside is a christmas one by the Historic Sampler Company - i want to stitch it for next year.

I'm planning to do that one too - I love their designs. And your stitching box is lovely.

  • My rubbish Christmas gift from MIL was cookery books?! She is well aware that I am having stomach surgery, and possibly a total removal of my stomach in 2012, and she got me cookery books...
Worse still I can't use one of them at all as it is for curry, and I can't eat anything spicy as it burns my tummy :(.
Dh can't see why I am feeling a bit down with them, when I put so much thought in to gifts for all the in-laws. Ah well.

Even better, MIL said that next year she would like a cross stitched alphabet sampler from me as I like sewing. Erm, you know I like sewing so you bought me cook books.....

If I didn't laugh I would cry :rotfl:.

The best gift though was a bracelet from my best friends, we said no gifts, but they posted it to me as a sneaky surprise :).

Well no stitching done here, but hopefully I will manage it a bit later!

    23rd that box is lovely!

I got exactly what I wanted for xmas: really warm slippers and chocolate. Potential MIL was a darling and gave me funny tea towel and £15.- M&S voucher and a tooth fairy cushion and £10.- M&S voucher for DD. Also BF did all the cooking and tidiying and child minding so that I was able to be lazy and have a really good rest. :smileyhea Only disaster pressie was rose smelling soaps from BF's sister but it was nice that she wanted to give me something and it can go to DD's school's xmas tombola next year :D

Still no stitching done, been scoffing fiction on my kindle since my last exam of the year in mid December. Bliss!!!

ETA: oh, oh oh - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the lions!!!

And PM - those horses are wonderful!!!

Yes thats the one!! I knew someone else had done it :D

i got mine off ebay a few year ago and its the original not a chinese copy but I keep having a problem with the thread as seems to be splitting. When I'm half way through a stitch the thread frays and i end up with a piece of thread on the needle at the front and the other half is still hanging at the back, I end up having to thread the needle again and trying to use up the bits as best I can!

Its very annoying  as the only thing I can think of that would cause this is that the threads have gotten wet at some point and its weakened them.
