  • HP_Sauce, those fish look really life like, I have never seen a stitching of fish and that looks divine. Where are you planing to hang it? Or is it a gift?

Thank you for the lovely comments. I've got it hanging in the bedroom...it drove me mad when I was stitching it and I really wasn't keen on it but my hubby liked it it and when it came back from the framers, they did such a lovely job that I've grown to like it too. I'm glad I stuck with it!

  • I got a floor stand for Christmas and I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have sewn the fabric onto the two bars but when I roll it up the fabric is not taut enough. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this please?

oooo didn't know House of Fraser did kits...they may require a visit this week!

My local House of Fraser used to do cross stitch and other craft related supplies (knitting wool etc) but then they closed the concession much to my :( but on a recent visit into town, I noticed a sign saying there was a coats crafts department opening soon (mid december) :j although I haven't been in yet to investigate ....

For someone who has been on holiday nearly a week, I am ashamed to say that I haven't managed any cross stitch yet.

Despite being on holiday, I am finding it hard to relax which is frustrating. I may brave the shops tomorrow but if I don't, will look into getting some cross stitch out....

can you not roll the bars up more so it gets tighter? then secure them

wow PM you have been busy! (humm, perhaps not chatting on here has given you more stitching time!?) the baby sampler is adorable and i Love the christmas one!

HP - that looks fantastic! you've some patience if you werent enjoying it to carry on like that! And I love love love the sampler you've been given! how lovely of your mum! the other week i got a charity shop crossstitcher and inside is a christmas one by the Historic Sampler Company - i want to stitch it for next year.

And just because i thought you might be interested, here's a pic of our post-christmas tree with the vintage sewing box that my dad renovated. The gold marks on the top are the original inscription, 1947 and some initals... he was careful to keep those intact as he knew i'd appreciate it's history. We were lucky to reviece some very thoughtful and generous gifts this year. The heart wreath was from my Mother In Law to Be and my uncle gave me 2 Tilda sewing books :)

Some great stitching by everyone :) pm2326 I really like the Christmas one.

HP- well done for persevering, it looks great. I'm hating my African Sunset as I stitch it, so I'm hoping I'll be the same as you and like it when it's finished.

I'm officially going to set myself the target of finishing it by the end of March, as I don't want it to be hanging around for over a year!! (Plus then I can ask for lots more stitchy bits for my birthday in April without feeling guilty about it :D)

23rd - that box is lovely, such a nice personal gift :)

Its a funny old thing this christmas present business. This year I did very well and was very lucky. I got lots of lovely things and nearly everything was "very me". Sometimes though, you wish people didn't bother because their present is really naff! and you are like ? what the hell am I meant to do with that ? how quickly can I "get rid" without them realising.... :rotfl:

on the other side of the coin, I found it very interesting that some gifts I bought for people weren't as well received as I thought they might be.

but hey ho, no need to worry about christmas faff for, well, another year ! :rotfl:

No cross stitch for me today (yet) and no trip to town. Have spent the morning hunting for theatre tickets that I put in a SAFE PLACE ! and now can't find !!!!!

Chicky- I know the feeling! I got a hideous lime green jacket from MIL and a fushia pink hooded velour dressing gown from her mother a couple of years ago. I really didn't know what to say :rotfl:

I got absolutely nothing at all for xmas this year though, so no worries about rubbish gifts!!
