I know this isn't cross stitch related but if you are a pay as you go mobile customer, would you mind letting me know what phone you have and what network you are on? I am currently with Virgin mobile and would like to change networks but don't know who to go with - orange/te$co top of the list but can't make up my mind and as my phone is locked to virgin, would have to buy a new phone.... if I do decide to move networks. I know I can probably sort out an unlock code but would prefer to keep the phone as it is as a spare/emergency phone.

I'm not fussed about having access to facebook or e-mail on my phone, I just want a decent camera, radio and the ability to text oh and make the occasional call. I have always gone for nokias in the past.

I always used to have a Nokia but I've got an iPhone now, on PAYG with GiffGaff. I used to be with Orange pay monthly when I moved to Yorkshire, but I couldn't get signal in my house. Moved to O2 PAYG and it's fine but I'm now on GiffGaff, which is part of O2 but cheaper as they don't have telephone customer services.

I'm paying £10 a month for unlimited texts and web and 250 minutes. I mostly ring my sister though and she's just gone onto GiffGaff so calls to her don't count towards my minutes.

Plus, as I recommended her to GiffGaff, we both get £5 free credit. If anyone's thinking of switching, let me know.

PS I was browsing the Mouseloft site the other day but I have bought from them before and there is nothing now that takes my fancy. :(

I'm after my festive stash for next year - nothing like getting organised :D so if you have any ideas of small xmas kits (preferably with a card and envelope) then please share.

Likewise for very small simple kits for birthdays/anniversaries etc plus to start people off on who haven't stitched before ....

    Do you like these? http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/Baubles-Card-Kit---Ho-Ho-and-Candles__SUS-CS03.aspx

Is anyone going to the craft fair in Exeter next weekend? I have won a pair of tickets and it looks like I can go - can I offer a wink?

I'm with Orange pay as you go and it's rubbish. The coverage is supposed to be good, and according to the coverage checks the signal should be strong where I live now and the last 2 houses I lived in, yet I've varied between no signal at all to 1 bar :( Same goes for my mum's holiday cottage in Yorkshire. There should be signal, but it receives absolutely none at all. I actually took my first phone back as I thought it was broken with such bad coverage, but it wasn't!! And the T-mobile-Orange coverage share hasn't improved it much, I still have to stand in one spot and not move in order to make a call. Customer service is awful too. You can probably tell it drives me crazy!!
The only plus point to Orange is the Orange Wednesday cinema tickets. If my phone wasn't locked to Orange I would've left, but I refuse to waste money unlocking it.
I'm like you in that I don't use my phone other than texts, calls and photos, but I can't recommend a phone as mine is 2 years old and I need to get a new one myself once I've got some money.
For pay as you go O2 have always been best, easiest to top up, and very good signal. I still keep a really old brick phone on O2 with some credit on it for when I get nothing on Orange. Hubby has always done well with Vodafone as well.

debtdalek- I'm intending to do my kids a stocking each this year, and I'll probably start those about June ish to make totally sure I get finished and get a head start. If I'm just doing a scene though I'll leave it until September onwards. Personally I wouldn't buy anything now unless it was very cheap, I associate buying xmas stuff at this time of year with sales, so I'd only pay bare minimum. It might be worth you waiting a little while to sell them, or I might just be strange for leaving it until later in the year!

Orange appealed because of magic numbers (and of course Orange Wednesday - not that I go to the cinema very often... - last thing I saw was the King's Speech!) but I mistakenly thought Magic Numbers applied to texts and it doesn't - its just calls and I rarely use my phone for calls ??!!

I spent two days trying to set up my account on their website - they have to send you a code to your mobile which they do by text - unfortunately by the time the text came through, the page would have refreshed/timed out and the code wouldn't work! I got so fed up and annoyed that I ended up ringing them and then had to wait ages for the "password" to arrive! so lots of faff and hassle and enough to put me off before I have even become a proper customer!

Te$co Mobile still appeals although people seem divided on whether the triple your credit deal is as good as it sounds.

But rather interestingly, I picked up a leaflet from carphone warehouse and actually, virgin mobile (who I'm with) are probably one of the best so I may just decide to stay with them after all!

I'm sorry for going off topic again. In cross stitch news, I'm very happy its the weekend. I intend to do some stitching (lots I hope) this weekend. I started a tigger kit but have gone wrong *somewhere* so my new year's resolution of finishing stuff before moving on to the next project has been broken already!!

I really must mark the chart off as I stitch even if its just a small design.

Thanks for the xmas card links :j off to check them out properly and buy stuff I don't really need :D

Hi everyone, hope everyone is well. Just popping on to say I won't be posting as much as I hope as I am moving house soon! I'm not looking forward to all the work.

Someone posted not so long ago (sorry can't remember who) about the water soluble pens staining the fabric, I washed my HAED and my samuari and both have nasty marks left behind - the pens are now in the dustbin. The HAED is not to bad as that can be covered with stitching but the Samuari is ruined and I feel like chucking it in the bin :(
I will have to find another way of gridding, and have now lost my stitchy bug.

    I hope everyone is well.

    Hi Ocemeer.

I am planning on going on the Friday. K is booked into nursery, got the day off work, and plan on spoiling myself before this redundancy is finally announced. If I lose my job I plan on crafting from home with the intention of selling things if I am good enough. So will be hoping for lots of inspiration as well as treating myself to some new cross stitch to do.

What day do you plan to go? Perhaps we could meet up for a coffee at half time? xx

That was me and I know how you feel, will never use mine again, I also have an air erasable one which I have had no troubles with, the only problem is you have to keep reading the lines, but at least the finished piece isn't ruined! Hope you get your stichy bug back soon xxx

I am so sorry to read that some of you have had such problems with the marker pens. How dreadfully disappointing after all that hard work.
I ususally mark the centre of the fabric with a couple of intersecting rows of large running stitch, in ordinary cotton, in a dark colour.

I was thinking that I could extend doing this to the specific area I am working on, to speed things up - does anyone else mark with threads?
